Title: Silenced Screamer Pipe
Post by: leeroy_25 on April 05, 2010, 09:42:42 PM
Has anyone made a screamer ppe with a silencer on it? Mine is stupidly loud so I want to try and quieten it down a bit. Where it\'s all routed it will be a nightmare trying to plumb the screamer pipe back into the downpipe so I was thinking I could just make a mini silencer to go on it or find a suitable size one off a bike or something?

Thoughts please?

Cheers
Lee

Funny you should say that I just sent Geff a message to see if it would work okay! I can\'t see any reason why not as long as I can package it? And as long as it doesn\'t mess up the wastegate operation?

Cheers

You could plumb in later down stream, say in the mid-pipe.

I made one out of an old bike exhaust, it wend under the gearbox and was silent, it also was too restrictive so i had to saw it off. the experiement cost me 130 quid

I\'ve got a small custom silencer fitted to my wastegate/screamer at the moment, made up by Predator Motorsport in Welwyn Garden City for ~£160 (they normally do custom bike exhausts). It takes the edge off the full throttle wail and gives a more bassy noise yet doesn\'t seem to cause any back pressure issues.

Plumb it further down the exhaust system, not too close to the downpipe as the gas flow will interfere with each other.

I Have Just Had Mine Plumbed Back Into The Original Hole In The Downpipe, That Cost 60 Quid, Hopefully It Will Now Be Quiet And The Boost Will Still Be Controllable

Or just turn up the boost and less will be coming out the w/g. It will then be a lot quieter.. :)
