Title: Gearbox question
Post by: G@NDY on April 04, 2010, 11:27:36 AM
Ive noticed that, ive got a gap/hole at the top passenger side of the engine, and when the engines running you can see the clutch spinning around:xconfused Now I know the FD boxes have an inspection plate on the bottom, but this doesnt look like anything is missing just a gap between the block and the bell housing.
Ive taken a pic dont know how clear it is? Any ideas? should it be like this? just worried if anythig dropped in there as its quite a gap.

Hello mate, if I recall correctly there is a inspection hole on the fc, on the top passanger side where the gearbox joins the block. sounds like your missing the cover.

There are 4 plates dotted around the engine / gearbox to cover the gaps - that one on top which you\'ve found.

Then there is a really thin one on the manifold side of the engine, a trapezoid shaped one underneath for inspections, and a kind of exhaust vent for clutch smoke that bolts to the spark plug side of the bell housing - and faces backwards - it covers a circular hole.

It clears the clutch smoke well
