Hey all,
My name is Ross, im 20 years old and i live near Worcester in the West Midlands.
A friend of mine introduced me to the idea of a rotary powered car a few months back and since then i\'ve been trying to see what i can get insured on and what would be fun and yet still safe for a first RWD car.
So.... as the story goes i ended going to view a car in Nottingham i had seen on Ebay and decided i would put a bid in for it. I ended up winning the car last Saturday night for a nice tidy sum of £281 with a 13b engine included in the deal.
The plan is to fix the issues with it and get her on the road ASAP (shes been in the last owners garage for the last 10 years.....)
So here are the pics, shes a lovely Gold 1984 FB with 79k on the clock

Hard parked along side my friends cars (corrado 1.8 16v, VW polo saloon with 1.6 conversion slammed with front splitter, and then my mate\'s 230bhp mx5 (soon to have the 13b engine i got with the car under the hood)
Then came the task of transporting the engine to my mates house.
So we set about dis-assembling the gearbox from the main block and taking off the manifold etc...

Got a few issues to sort out mainly carb issues, having the car not turned over for 10 years appears to have a float stuck open as the car\'s leaking fuel out of the exhaust and leaking into the engine bay just when the fuel pumps primed so will be cleaning the carb and then getting some new tyres, 1 or 2 different things welded (boot has a few tiny holes and the front left sill has a little bit of rust to get rid of) and then back on the road (hopefully :D)
let me know what you think! i\'ll soon have a build thread up showing all the work bit by bit.
Cool,welcome to the forum.

If there\'s any info you need just ask. We live in the 1st Generation section on here, we\'re think we\'re nice and polite people (most of us.....) and it\'s good to know where your car went to from ebay.
You might be interested to know that we\'ve only noted about 20 Series 2 FB\'s taxed and on the road with about 30 or so further project cars (SORN or unlicensed).
Hope all goes well.
Captain Bizz will be happy, another gold Fb.

Quick update:
Took the carb apart yesterday cleaned it out real good with some carb cleaner, re-assembled put back onto the engine turned on the fuel pump and had the same issue.....stuck float.... so we pulled the fuse on the pump and started her up.....sounded a bit sketchy was only running on one rotor. Gave her a bit of a rev and it appears to have helped clear the stuck float issue, along with the rev the second rotor came into life and was running lovely(ish :D)
the engine was flooded massively from before i got the car, so when we tried to clear out any flooding issues we found about a pint of fuel in the actual exhaust mid section and found that the flange around the exhaust hedders were leaking fuel (wern\'t titened up) so got all that sorted. Was just a quick summary of what\'s happened. will upload pictures when i get home tonight.
Today\'s plan\'s are to fill up the coolant system, let her run for 30 minutes or so to get upto temp and clear and condensation/fuel out of the exhaust system.
Cheers
Ross
Tried merging my threads but cant find the edit button.

Tiny bit better photo of the troubled area
Well all in all it was a great day, sun shining and working on the car.
Steve and Ian did most of the work so cheers guys!. We got the electric windows working a treat as we previously had thought the motor\'s were gone, Ended up being loads and loads of crap in the actual switches. So with a bit of cleaning the windows now go up and down perfectly every time.
Time to get the welding done and bushings (are there any kits available for rear end refurb?
Thanks.
Ross
Doesn\'t look to be a bad car Ross....Seen photos on various sites of much worse rear arch rot than that. Looks fairly good at the front end too.
I\'ve never had a window motor fail in 20 years of various FB daily drives and then another 6 years occasional use only. So I\'m not surprised that they still work.
There are poly bush kits and rubber bush kits available....I\'ve never renewed any but plenty of guys on here are expert at it (and there\'s threads about removing the old bushes as well).
A good buy this car methinks...
Good progress made yesterday Ross :) Nice to see you posted the photo of me looking like an amputee.....
Welcome aboard :D
Make sure you plate both sides of the rust, its quite structural and I noticed a huge improvement when it was repaired !

only within 10 minutes of your initial post then it expires.
When you put pictures up Ross, copy and paste the IMG code ( the bottom one on photobucket) into your post and your pictures will open up full size automatically

Got a bit more work done today with as you guessed it help from Steve and Ian (once again....i say help, they did all the work) Cheers guys :)
Started the day off with heading upto Steve\'s with Ian and getting his subframe put back on.
We then headed off to see the FB and start work on dropping the diff ready for refurb and welding.

And finally leaving the car as it stands today.
Very Good, Thanks again Ross. As before, that back Chassis ain\'t too bad.
One thing though (2 Things Really). I\'d bag those calipers up tightly against rain getting in and if you\'ve not already done so make sure they\'re not hanging on the flexes.
As a matter of interest, I change all my brake fluid EVERY 2 or 3 years. That way there\'s never a seized caliper or seal failure. (25 years so far). The wife now has NVQ level 3 in pedal pressing during the job....You might want to bleed everything as it goes back together?
David,
The idea is to refurb pretty much everything, It needs new brake lines anyway, thinking about replacing hard lines also. Need to get polybush kit from somewhere for the whole rear suspension set up, Braided lines in place of the perished flexi\'s. Good point on wrapping the calipers, I\'ll see if i can get that done ASAP.
springs have a lot of surface rust on so may wirewheel them whilst i do the diff, then a nice thick coating of black hammerite (or maybe orange :P )
Will update the thread as i get more done, Thanks again for the tips.
Ross
Don\'t suppose you want to lend her out or better skill, I\'ll send mine down for tuition. Cliff
:rollin:rollin:rollin
It\'s the only chance to shout at her Cliff. Windows down on both sides so she gets a good earful.....Then the commands.....\'DOWN FAST\'...\'HOLD IT\'.....\'BACK UP\'......\'DOWN SLOW\'....\'HOLD IT\'.....\'HOOOLD IT I SAID!!!!!\'....\'BACK UP\'....and so on.
She glowers at me whilst I\'m shouting but it\'s my domain this so she has to go along with it....In the house its a different regime!
^^This is why I have 3 boys^^:chat:chat:chat
Be honest guys - we luv \'em to bits don\'t we, after all where would we be without them? ...................in the garage, down the pub, out with the lads, at footy match :rollin:rollin:rollin
No being truthful I call mine \'Witch\' or \'The Dragon\', even bought her a special sign for her rear window
