Hi does enyone know enywhere in scotland that work with rx7s? mine is not running very good and the nearest specialist is jimmys rx7 in england and am in the noth of scotland!:2Mad
Hi mate. Try Rice Rockets. Located in West Linton.
http://www.rice-rockets.co.uk/home.html
Will be taking mine there for a health check soon.
HTH
just sent them a email, went on there website and it looks promising! Been looking for a place nearer to home for ages, still a bit away but at least its in scotland!:) cheers!
haywood north is up and running now too
The Garage in Wishaw/Motherwell is a good choice. Mark Light, the owner, has worked on several scots owned RX7\'s.

Just emailed the garage in motherwell, they look good to! not sure about haywood? Do they have a website? further north the better!:yes
I\'d use The Garage for most things mechanical - they do my MOT and replaced my rusted brakelines- but if I was getting engine work done or mapping I\'d go much further south.
Does the garage not do mapping or eny of that? because i think thas what mine needs, its running with a straight through exhaust and induction kit and bigger intercooler but sill on the stock ecu and am told its overboosting and thats why it splutters at high revs? but i have put evrything back to stock and it sill does it so need some one that knows what there doing! Looking into getting a apexi power fc, so i can set it up for the mods
They\'ll probably be willing to have a go, but I wouldn\'t go with anyone other than the recognised experts for mapping. These guys are used to skylines, evo\'s and scoobies - their engines are a lot less sensitive to a bad tune than an RX7. If the tuner gets it wrong, it\'s bye-bye engine.

That\'s very true as quote above
don\'t know anything about Rotary mapping in Scotland.
it\'s good to know if they can do mapping the Rx\'s spot on but...............................?
that\'s the question!!
it\'s up to you;)
Hi mate, might be worth giving AVA in Glasgow a shout - i had them sort the fueling out on my fd. I think the guys name is Alan (bad memory...), he\'s worked on a few rx\'s in his time and he was one of the first people i spoke to that didn\'t freak out when i mentioned i wanted him to look at a rotary!
I think as you are gonna be quite a trek to anyone up here you might be as well getting the car transported down somehow to a specialist down south?:3Confused
As someone else has said rice rockets in Linton, never used them myself but not heard anything negative so let us know if you do and how it goes - would be great if we have a good specialist up here!
I think that if there was a garage up here that considered themselves a rotary specialist they\'d be all over MRC and FD:UK like a rash trying to stop us lot from driving down south when we need work done.
That\'s a fair point actually, i did wonder.
Rice rockets say they are rx7 specialists and say they do enything from a service to a full rebuild? but i dont know!? :3Confused

?????????????????, rebuild as every one can do that but Mapping???????????
Well does enyone know a place that does remaps and good at engine work? thats in the north?:3Confused is rice rockets no good for remaps?
Nobody can map your original ECU so you will need a programmable one such as a PFC
Don\'t think Rice-Rockets has a rolling road do they?
Im looking for a apexi power fc.:Giggle
I had all my service and diagnosis work done by the Garage. At the time they remapped my PFC however it was with Mark as the driver and a former forum colleague who completed the mapping.
On my second RX7 I used WGT for the mapping. Wouldn\'t go to anyone else for that job now. I\'m hoping to return to the scene shortly and I\'ll continue to use The Garage, with the exception of mapping

Hmmm, so i see that most of the good places for mapping seem to all be in England! Would be better to put it somewhere that could to the remaping and try and find the problem so it doesnt have to be moved about, because im thinking of getting it down on a lorry. I was going to put it all the way down to jimmys but he says they dont do remaps or tuning, and if i get a pfc i would want someone that knows what there dong to set it up for the mods on the car!:yes But either way its going to cost a fortune!! because no one knows whats wrong with it:3Confused

Well to be fair you haven\'t tried very hard mate - you\'re on the Mazda Rotary Club forum and there are hundreds of people on here who can help you diagnose problems!
One thing you need to get used to with Rotary ownership up North, its good to be handy with a socket set - if you have to revert to a garage every time you get a little problem it\'ll cost you £££. Garages that don\'t know rotaries well can take hours just to realise a vac hose has popped off - you can spend hundreds for something that WGT, Reworx, Hayward etc. would have spotted straight away and fixed for 10 minutes labour.
Start a new thread in General Technical with your symptoms and someone\'ll probably be able to sort you out.
I was on the worldwide club and tried few things such as spark plugs/secondary injectors/all the vaccum pipes have been replaced/fuel filters/ecu been tested/fault code test/compression test/ and a few other things so i have tried and if enyone has eny other ideas im happy to try!
Hi mate, i havnt used him yet but iv been told about a guy called Ricky Gauld that bases himself in Hunly, Aberdeenshire is willing to map rotaries. He has a web site,http://www.rickygauld.co.uk/ (http://www.rickygauld.co.uk/) i was pointed towards him by a guy thats had 20 years experience with rotaries.
A mate of mine has had a bad experience with rice rockets with his s14, it went along the lines of; after signing an agreement that the engine would be rebuilt within 3 months...after 5-8 months the engine was still in bits and it came to the point where my mate ended up pulling the car from there and putting it some where else.
But i havnt used them myself.
Thanks for the help mate, i will try this guy and see what he says. Be perfect if i just had to put it to Aberdeen! Cheers again!:Talking1
Just phoned the guy and he doesnt work with rx7s he says so, dont know where to put it!?:3Confused
misinformation there,
I give McC the wrong information or misunderstood my word.
Ricky\'s very good on Piston-engined tuning and need help about rotary which he\'ve not got the knowlege.
Myself give Ricky the guiding hand how to tune the N/A rotary-engine.
I\'m afraid,that\'s Scotland to you. there\'s nothing there for rotary-turbo engined!
Go south, young man:)
So wheres the best place to go south? haywood north? I was going to take it to jimmys rx7, but he says they dont do eny remaps or tuning there so it would be good to put it somewhere that did macanical work and the tuning. Where do i put it hmmmm?:3Confused
Not sure if hayward north do remaps?
near to Scotland, go to WGT\'s and call for Pip.
highly comment! http://wzpo.ask.com/r?t=p&d=mys&s=ads&c=a&l=dis&o=15554&sv=0a65290e&ip=56b853e2&id=26E64E8AAACD4BE3C829485FFAC8F85A&q=WGT+development&p=1&qs=19&ac=0&g=1995FSRYtRep2c&en=te&io=0&ep=&eo=&b=a001&bc=&br=&tp=d&ec=1&pt=WGT%20Auto%20Developments%20Ltd&ex=tsrc%3Dtled&url=&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wgtautodevelopments.co.uk%2F

As I\'ve said before contact Marc Light at the Garage in Wishaw. Get it booked in there for diagnosis work, if you want a remap then it\'s WGT.

Take it south m8, Im north of inverness and none of the body shops in the area would even touch my car let alone do any mechanical work on it. Id just hire a van and trailer and take it to wgt. I do know of a tuner near carlisle who has mapped rotories but he doesent have anything like the experiance of pip.

Ditto, like we\'ve all said, WGT is the place to go- just South of Manchester. If you give Pip a call to book it in he\'ll probably be happy to chat through your symptoms and offer advice as well. Genuinely nice chap, but take your wallet fully loaded cos he\'ll spot anything that\'s needing done... :)
sounds like its ging to have to be WGT sounds like pip knows his stuff! I will give them a phone and get it booked in. Cheers for the help guys.:Talking1
