Well after using my fd as a daily runner for the past few months, it\'s got to the point where i reckon its more economical to run a 2nd car - doing 230 ish miles a week has been costing me around 80-100 quid (right foot dependent) a week in fuel which is getting a bit too much beyond ridiculous, although it has been an absolute blast.
I\'m a bit annoyed as i\'d always convinced myself that running 2 cars would cost as much but the maths say otherwise and i can spend the extra money on mods! :D
Anyone else found themselves doing similar or am i just not hardcore enough?:Laugh
When i was running mine 17 mile each way to work and back i ended up getting a 2nd car but got so fed up i still ended up in the FD! then the 2nd car just sat at home lol :Hammer
I got a second car end of last year cos the Rex was simply too ill to use as a daily any more until I can afford to take the engine out, apart, and fix the stuck oil control rings. Up till then I had about three and a half years with an Fd as a daily, and I honestly never gave a monkeys about fuel. What\'s the point? You fill it up, you empty it.....
Haven\'t noticed it being any cheaper having a cruddy ol MR2 as a daily runabout tbh, especially if you factor in buying it into the cost, no way I would have spent that amount of money in petrol in the Rex in the same time. It is nice not having the winter salt and snow take its toll on my pride and joy, though
I try and use mine as a daily, so far its spent more time in the garage or at the watering hole, 99 unleaded ist the cheapest in Cardiff either £1.24 per litre - Usually about £100-120 a week as i\'m an estate agent!!

Agree with the salt and snow, i had my wheels blinged up to hell all lovely and shiny and after one week they were in a hell of a state! Also, at xmas time there i couldn\'t get out for about 3 weeks because the rex was un-drivable in the snow- definitely not doing another winter in it as a main car!
I think its more putting 80 quid in simply just to get to work that\'s getting to me, id rather put that in and burn it all up at the weekend and nights during the week. I actually considered an mr2 but didn\'t think that would be worth it at 30ish mpg, looking for something 50mpg PLUS!
Yeah, this is just the bodywork of mine during the previous winter, dread to think what this was doing to all the alloy and bits you can\'t see.....

I run a bora tdi daily, do 100+ miles a day with work :)
Previously rex was a daily doing around 100 miles a week with work
Drive the Bora not even thinking about mpg and it\'ll return mid 40\'s, try drive it nice it\'ll hit into the 50\'s quite easily

Mines got in a similar state... i felt pretty guilty about because i\'d look at it knowing how great it looks clean and polished up and i\'d never get a chance to clean it until the weekends because it would be pitch black when i\'d get home at night!
BTW, i\'d just like to add i am not having a
"oh god i\'ve got an rx7 and i\'ve just realized that they\'re rubbish on fuel" moan!

you would go through that much fuel in 15 mins! LOL eather your 2 was cheeper than mine or you have a bad fuel leak! ;)
I know what your saying though matey.... only used mine to and from work for a week... soon put the keys back on the hook! LOL but very suprised at how bad the MR is on fuel :(
Jono
I used to do the same, FD was the daily but at 100-150 squids a week it was killing me, bought a smart CDI last month and absolutly love it, average around 70mpg and its not super slow or small, i fit a fd rear bumper and two bucket seats into it !!
Volvo C70 for my daily driver, when i had it.
Good MPG, cheap to buy, enough power to drive with confidence. And an all in all nice car, did 40k miles in 6 months never missed a beat, sold ot for 1k less than the 4k i payed for it :D
