Hi guys, wheres the best place to go and what kinda prices am i looking at for a single turbo conversion?
depends what sort of setup you want, do you have a power goal, what spec is the car currently?
was after a simple setup so i dont get all these annoying problems with the rats nest and that, i would like around the 350bhp mark, ive currently got
*apexi ecu
*decat
*rebuilt engine
ok, now will that be all you will ever need powerwise, are you sure you will never want more in the future, the only reason is...\'buy right, buy once\' no point buying something then wanting more power later on.
I would suggest if you never want more power than between 300-400bhp then go for a to4e, will spool like the twins and saves like you say loads of hassle.
The good thing though is you can run up to about 350bhp on stock injectors with a bump in fuel pressure so its the cheapest way to go, anymore than that and you need to start spending the pennies
If you want to cover yourself for the future get a non-bb gt35, that will cover you up to the high 400 mark.
you will need a better intercooler which ever turbo you go for.
You thought about going non-seq so you can take all the rats nest stuff out?
are you looking new or second hand parts?
i wouldnt want more then 400bhp on the road, how can i go non-seq with twins? and wouldnt i still need the rats nest in? also im kinda after the cheapest way to do a single conversion so probably go second hand on the stuff if i could do,
well if its just problems with second turbo not kicking in, or kicking in late, or generally just being a pain in the arse you may aswell not spend all that money going single.
My advice would be because of your low power needs i would go non-seq, its probably best have someone do it for you.
someone i know makes 360bhp at 0.9bar and 385bhp at 1 bar on non-seq so that sounds about perfect for you.
thats £650 and he takes off the turbos, opens all the wastegates up so they flow more and controls boost easier, removes all the rats nest and then puts new silicone piping on anything thats left.
that to me is what your after
0.8bar, shows a good spread of power and holds on till pretty late rpm

ok, so £650 for non-seq, how much extra for a single conversion tho?
well id imagine if you could find a second hand to4e setup for about £900-£1k if they come up for sale when someone breaks there car. You would have to make sure it comes with all the oil lines etc so you dont have to pay to have them made up
Ok cool, I take it you have a single turbo aswell, how do u find the drive do u miss the feel of a seq, does it drive weired at high revs on motorway n stuff
i have a small hotside t04r. i dont miss sequential one bit,
ive only driven someone elses who was single turbo, im still on twins but that will be changing this year.
I wont miss the twins at all, they are slow, the first turbo makes it feel like your waiting for vtec to happen and wow you have 10psi of boost at 2k but i could probably walk faster.
You wont miss it at all, why would it be weird at high revs?
Lol yea I guess so, I thought at high revs it would strane a little on the motorway
In the current climate it would probably be cheaper to sell yours and buy a already converted single turbo rx tbh :wiggle

Your car is obviously incredibly badly setup.
A well setup twins car is not slow at all.
My old setup was 360bhp, a nice wallop of torque low down, and excellent response. It most definitely was not slow. Your car must be broken.
For your goals go for a GT35R with a A/R of 0.96.T3 or T4 frame
Quite a few companies in the UK sell the turbo from the usual suspects (Universal turbos etc), you just need to source a decent manifold. I think Atomicrex sells decent manifolds from what I have seen.
With a cost of decent wastegate (turbosmart or HKS) you looking at £1500 roughly for parts.
Personally I have driven a Seq and Non-seq and the Non-seq sucked balls big time, like someone cut off the first part of the power band just because they didnt like the transition. A proper working Seq system is very quick low down.

Something wrong with your car dude if you think the seq is crap.Im running 322bhp at .75bar on stock seq
Ok, I wudnt wanna sell mine to buy a single as my engine was recently built so I\'m happy with the knowledge of a safe engine, jus wanna avoid the snares of a rats nest, so Blitzboy did u not like the single turbo?

Think you misunderstood, I luv my single turbo, I said I dont like NON-SEQ twins lol
Oh right lol thought u didn\'t like the single, I gotta save up for a single cause Ive drained my funds at the mo, quick question do I personally buy the kit or do I go to a rotary place like rxmotors n the have it n stuff?
what the hell?!! Im sure whatever the prob is it cant be that hard to fix for such drastic measures!!!
I would personally buy the individual parts from the different vendors to get the best value kit, also keep an eye out on second hand bargains
nar its for future reference jit, i will get fixed watever the problem is now, but in about 6months i should of saved up enough for a single conversion would save alot of hassle with the twins, regarding the problem i have now will you be available this week sumtime jit to have a look at the rats nest?
Yeah give me a buzz bit later on and Ill sort something out. Once you got em working properly i doubt youll wanna go single... seq twins work lovely!
Cool cheers dude, thanks for you help guys, I will keep an eye out for a kit
