So been looking over the last few days at power increase for the FD\'s
just wondering at what sort of hp your going to start putting overdue strain on the gearbox?
Additionally, how well does the oem clutch stand up to additional horses ?
the general rule for me has always been swap te clutch and fly as soon as possible anyway, and swap the gearbox when it shatters into peices :D
555bhp on stock box, 3 years and counting has not broken yet. It is quite a strong box so long as your power plant frame is in good nick and you have good lube in the box and good bracing of the driveline.
OEM clutch wont last long past 350hp if you are a spirited driver.
The lifetime of the FD box is based on 2 things
1. how accurate you can shift (especially 3rd and 5th syncro are bound to break)
2. what kind of torque it needs to take. I have never heard of a FD box breaking with a 13B on it; 20B\'s is another deal. With some mods, they can brake it like a twig :-)

You never heard of James Willaday then, he has gone through over Ten stock boxes, broken a Trust Dog box and needed to repair big time his HKS Dog box, all on a 13B, the guy is an animal hahahahahha
extreme exceptions excluded ;-)
