Title: Help New Key!
Post by: Christiez on March 25, 2010, 10:50:02 PM
Good evening,

I have today finally purchased myself an RX7 FD from Carl at Hayward Rotary :mmmm .  I managed to do damage in less then a day by bending the key out of shape!!  I have been able to straighten it enough to start the car and lock the doors but really don\'t trust using it now.  How much am I looking at to replace the key as I have never had to do this before....

P.S Also would like to add Carls service has been second to none and highly recommended!

You can take that blank key to any locksmith or keystore place, and they will mimic the current one for 5 or 10 notes.

Unless your key has an alarm fob built into it, in which case they will probably be able to replace the old one.

As long as the key works, then there ok to copy it, so should not cost you a lot.

AndersE - now you got me thinking about a mc donalds.....

Most places that do key cutting should be able to do one for you. If not then you can get blanks from the MRC shop or mazda rotary parts and take that to be cut]

What size McDonalds meals are they though?   Might cost a fair bit to go all the way over there as well ;)

My local key cutter does it for £3 with a key if he has one, which he doesn\'t for rx7\'s so i had supply my own.

Quick update - Keys all sorted, cost 4 pound a key...not bad at all!!

On a side note though - does anyone know where I can get a double din facia plate as for some reason my double din stereo doesn\'t fit in properly and leaves gaps all around.
