Right guys i have a block off plate kit from banzai racing, its the single turbo kit as i used the oil feed plate when i went single turbo on my last FD, however i still have all the other plates and wondered:
1. what they do?
2. advantages?
3. what else needs doing?
4. is it worth doing?
etc etc

list of plates
ACV (Air Control Valve)
ACV Tube
AWS (Accelerated Warn-Up System)
AWS Tube
Double Throttle
EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation)
ISC (Idle Speed Control)
Split Air
Rear Turbo Oil Return Line
Someone must know! Please please tell :)
Mainly used to blank the inlet manifold where emissions gubbins have been removed. For simplicity more than anything else. Do a search and I\'m sure you\'ll find each specific device and pros and cons. Some are US 9only and won\'t be needed on a jap car.
ACV (Air Control Valve), ACV Tube and split air: ACV sends extra air to the catalytic convertor (via split air tube) when the engine is at low RPM, which improves emissions and stops it getting blocked. Once your cat has gone, you can safely remove it, no side effects (other than massive emissions that mean you\'ll not pass MOT without some help). Note that you should not remove the cat unless you have an aftermarket ECU that will fuel to compensate. One less solenoid required as well.
AWS (Accelerated Warn-Up System) and AWS Tube: Does not exist on Jap Spec cars AFAIK, just on US and UK. Revs the car to 3000rpm on cold start-up, to get the fluids up to temp quickly. Can safely be removed, no side effects - you also need to block the hose inlet on the intake elbow. No significant benefit in removing, other than one less solenoid required.
Double Throttle - for when you remove the double throttle, natch. It stops you opening full throttle when the engine is cold - you can remove it, but have some pity for the poor engine when its cold and let it warm up properly before giving it beans. Benefit is marginally less restriction in air flow at full throttle. One less solenoid as well.
EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation). Does not exist on UK or Jap cars - so this blanking plate will be unused.
ISC (Idle Speed Control). Removing can cause rough idle - other than saving maybe 150grams I don\'t see any real benefit in removing it.
Rear Turbo Oil Return Line. What it says... needed if you need oil from that line, not needed if you don\'t.
Depending what you remove you\'ll need to block off a couple of vacuum nipples on the plenum too.
Great info exactly what I was looking for thanks very much :)
