Title: Broken exterior door handle
Post by: NeilSR on March 23, 2010, 08:08:04 PM
Well, after finally working out how to remove the door handle (2 nuts lol) I found out tonight what was wrong with the door handle

The back of the level has snapped, so when you pull up the handle its not putting any force on the mechanism to open the door itself

Dont know whether its fixable, or whether I need to replace it, looks like its gonna be a replacement unless any of u guys have an idea?

As its already out you may as well fit a good 2nd hand one.  Fatigue on the door handles is common, I\'ve replaced about 3 over the years on various FC\'s.

You can fix it although not a great fix but if you drill a hole in both ends you can use wire to hold it together.
Never tried this just read it somewhere! :D

Not worth repairing, been there so many times and all too common in failing as Brett as stated on fatigue and general wear and tear. They are made from cast and not really enough meat there to do much with that will last.
