Went to Elsecar Heritage Centre today just for a lil\' outing. Its just south of Barnsley, near the M1. Various toddler-friendly shops, nice cafe, old railway engines (Fitzwilliam family created the station on a dead end track to take their estate workers on outings), antique centre and crafts.
Anyway, you don\'t want to know all that!. Gus was wearing his new boots.
Brand new wheels on the offside, refurbed wheels on the nearside.
Daddy, Daddy, see the Red Velour in that lovely car..........No child, it\'s Sooo outdated.
Hmm???? thinking as well......might have an avatar like Ian:Giggle
Thats a great looking rex David very impressive..

only difference is, I had the photograph my only good wheel for my avatar!
That must be the cleanest 1st gen in the country Dave, gorgeous looking motor!
The wheels make it look factory fresh as well.
I\'d give my right one for a car like that!
Thats a stunner Dave, I\'m greeeeen !
Very nice great looking fb, don\'t see that many and not many as tidy and well looked after as yours
Looking good mate.....
Now that\'s a fine lookng machine - it\'s a credit to you, well done. Cliff
David looks great................. must get my wheels done.
looks g8 dave.
Refurbed wheels are on passenger side? How do i know,there\'s a red dot on the rim of the front wheel on drivers side which would\'nt be there on refurbed wheels.
Another case solved.
A credit to u dave, the car looks immaculate apart from that \'midgey\' you murdered on ur front number plate.
Bet u zoom into ur photo\'s now!

But your work on the Black one will make a better smarter machine Ian. My underside is good, but not show stopping by any means. I think yours will end up the best as I don\'t plan to do more that hold Gus as he is.
To All.... Thanks very much.....RED VELOUR TRIUMPHS AGAIN.

a different thing though...
original condition or restored??
What would you rather have?
it\'s a whole new debate!!
If I could buy a 1st gen in new condition or nearly new cond. as we did back in the 80\'s, I wouldn\'t bother restoring one.
Unfortunately, I can\'t so the only way to get one is the restore one myself.
The only minters are with enthusiasts like yourself who have no intention of selling them.
How many do we ever see come up for sale that are genuinely, low milage, low owner, mint condtion, unrestored cars.
Not many.

Yep ur right, very rarely get a minter up 4 sale.
I may be interested in selling mine as i have a company abroad which if this recession ever lifts, will mean i\'m out of UK for long periods,so the car would never get used.I\'d want the price i paid for it if i sold it,i\'ve since spent probably £1500 on top of that on further improvements, coz i love Fb\'s & am a fussy git,& wanted a Fb as close to showroom condition as poss.
Your black car Ian will be a nice car, keep at it

You know what i think David.
I went straight for the camera as soon as you turned up at my workshop last week.
Stunning car, and a pleasure to lay eyes on it again. :D
Dave, why do u call ur car Gus?
Have u cleaned off that splatted midgey u murdered with ur front nos plate?
As it goes i quite like red/burgundy interiors, had one on my s1.
Take no notice of the other jokers, their red with envy.
ta stu...
it\'s a strange thing but the burgundy interiors seem to suit white or silver 1st gens better than any other colour.
Very 1980\'s, but hey, I loved the 1980\'s!!

It\'s short for \'Guzel\', the Turkish word for \'Beautiful\'.
We\'ve been to Turkey and N Cyprus loads of times and keep practicing the language, though it\'s very difficult as there doesn\'t seem to be many links back to the full blown Euro languages. Lots of odd words but nothing to get your brain round to remember things.
North Cyprus is a massively unknown holiday location. Safe, secure, cheap, stunning scenery, cars drive on left, good road manners. A real throwback 30 years or so.
A bit dusty and shabby in places thats all.
Oh thats why u call it Gus.
Turkey is beautiful, but go way inland & poverty is frightening, kids sleeping on concrete floors in potato sacks.
N Cyprus again very nice, ive been to nicosia/kyrennia etc,but it\'ll never take off as a tourist destination as it\'s an illegal/occupied state & difficult to get to,no direct flights there, never will be till situation is resolved, peeps who\'ve bought property there cheap are at severe risk of it being demolished/paying compensation to greek cypriots displaced.
I personally love croatia & montenegro, not tooooo many brits there,G8!!!
Your Gus looks G8 dave, the wheels really set it off,i\'d deffo say it\'s one of the best around.

"GUZEL"
I thought that was to do with the amount of fuel we get through!
