Title: Idling issue... but the TPS is set correctly
Post by: shielsy on March 22, 2010, 01:21:00 PM
chaps, i\'m having an issue with the idling of my FD. everything was fine last week as it completed the running-in mileage, went for the first service and check over. everything fine. i gave it a good drive on the way back and still fine.

the next day i take it to work, then on the way home give it another good drive. probably went up to 7k max, so wasnt thrashing the nuts off it. got home and the idle was rough as. was sat at bout 400-500rpm fluctuating up and down. it has been like this for the last few days now. it seems to drive fine when its going but is smelling quite rich, and is using an obscene amount of petrol. on deceleration whilst in gear it starts bucking lightly when you get lower than 2k. i have checked:

TPS is set to recommended voltage on both wires
MAP sensor hooked up fine
Sounds fine while cranking

i was wondering if you chaps had any other ideas of what to check before i make the long, long drive back to the rebuilder.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

yes its a 1993 FD.

seems to boost fine mate. have spoke to the engine builder and he has got me to check a few thinks, all of which seemed ok. the next step is to take it back to him but its a long arse drive.

i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas before i start booking time off work etc.

is there any chance a knackared catalytic converter could cause the symptoms i have?

im pretty sure my cat is past its best as there is a nasty rattle coming from it at low rpm.

I really hope it isn\'t...

I\'ve only had it for a week! If it is i\'m hoping the rebuild warranty should cover it...
