Title: Wanted, RX3, RX7sI,sII Diff
Post by: Bob Monkhouse on March 22, 2010, 07:41:14 AM
We are building a pp\'d RX4 at the moment and are in need of a CWP to suit any of the above diffs. Ratios of 4.4, 4.6 and 4.8 are what we need. I can get these from the guys in Oz but obviously carriage is going to be an issue. Thanks to anyone who can help, Bob.

Thanks, I didn\'t think that there would be much chance to get these things in England but thought I\'d try anyway. I\'m in touch with someone in Oz who can supply a Torsen II LSD and CWP\'s, its just going to hurt when he tells us how much the shipping is going to cost,Bob.

The chances of finding a hilux diff. In the scrappers is unlikely. Still have to shorten the half shafts if we did, and from what we have found out about these we would still have to get an LSD for it. Also the correct ring and pinion to give us the correct diff ratio we are looking for. Or a choice of ratios.

We(well, that would be me), have looked into various back axles for the RX4 including Atlas, Ford 8",Hilux and Hiace and it seems that the RX4/13B (28spline)that came with the car is one of the strongest around and should easily cope with 300bhp.
This info is what the Aussies have come up with so what me and Grant are trying to do is get hold of suitable ratios over here that we can maybe interchange when the car is up and running. I\'m at present waiting for one of the Aussies to give me a price on a TorsenIILSD to fit the RX4 axle.
The prices for a LSD Atlas or Ford 8" are going to be in the region of £2000plus by the time we\'ve got the right ratios(£4-600) then anLSD on top of that at £6-700, shortened half shafts(£300)etc, etc.
The Mazda axle seems to be the cheapest and as good as the alternatives, it then stays original(well, nearly), and doesn\'t end up with a massive arse(alright on wimmin but not a small car)!!!

fair play - but some Hilux diffs are fine without shorteningv- theres one on ebay thats 52\'\' including drums - that\'d do it.

Let me know if you find any other short rx4 or similar axles - I need one!
