Title: Cleaning K&N Mesh Filter
Post by: C J R on March 18, 2010, 01:42:39 PM
My K&N Cone filter is looking a little grubby. Ideally I would replace it but UK and USA are out of stock for another 6 weeks.

As a short term solution, I thought I would clean it. It is the wire mesh type.
Can anyone suggest a suitable cleaning method ?

Thanks
Chris

Chris,

K&N do a bespoke filter cleaning kit which you can get from Halfrauds for about £20. It consists of some detergent-style cleaner and some oil for putting the \'stickyness\' back on the medium to trap stuff.

I did my Apex\'i cones the other week and just used a stiff bristle brush to knock the sh!t off - was part of a pack of three I got from B&Q, two wire + one fabric. The cones can handle quite a bit of abuse so I just got stuck in with the fabric brush.

As above - don\'t over oil though, jsut add a lit bit, or you\'ll muck it up.
