I am in the process of fitting some Zeal coilovers to my FD and wanted to know how low can you push the stock drop links?
this is the current height the car is sitting at and i want to go about 10-15mm lower, but the drop link looks like its about to snap lol!

do i need to buy some sort of adjustable one?
thanks
steven
personaly wouldn\'t go any lower than that mate... looks about right ;)
thanks bud, wanna put some spacers on it tho to push it out a lil more! the wheels are et 12 but i am sure et 2 should be okay!
also bud, do you make those led style light for people? if so, how much? just all round pattern!
looks sweet, any other pics, havent seen any for a while.
got any pics of the links as i have never looked at mine. i say drop it to check angles etc but are you going to have skirt problems tho??
just put some picks up on the build mate, can just see the link! not to fussed about the skirts tbh mate, aslong as it looks good! also want to fit the carbon under splitters too lol!
You can deffo go lower than that.
If you\'re really worrid about the drop links, fab some new ones from rose joints and threaded bar :)
Okay thanks mate.
You don\'t have any picks of them fabed linnks do you?
I want to go lower but my rear coils are hitting the top suspension arm on full compression. iam runing BC coilovers, and it has this stance at the moment.

I love it, more pics? Maybe we should start an \'FD with stance\' thread :yes

I don\'t think it would run to a second page if properly moderated!
I can think of very few cars in the UK that actually have a decent stance unfortunately :(
Hell, even in the US, most of the owners who go for decent fitment and ride height are lambasted for straying from the norm of 9.5j et38 wearing a 255 rear, and 8.5j et45 front wearing a 235.
What would you say I need to do to get good stance? I have dropped a tuck more if you look at my project page!
Wheels are also 17x9.5 et12 all round 225F 235R
Christoffer, i thought you could lower the bc coilvers on the body of the coilver? Is that as low as it goes? I have just bought some second hand.
Hi guys, just of a thought of a question when I read this thread. When you lowered the car by that much, how would the standard wheel alignment can cope with those big toe/caster/camber tilted angles? Do you also have to replace some standard suspension components with the adjustable one, eg shorter drop links, adjustable upper suspension arms?

18\'s on the back, 17\'s on the front. Then drop the rear so its stupidly close to the arch. then as you have 17\'s on the front you dont need silly close fitment to get the car flat.

its lot of adjustment left on the coil, but thats not the problem. I will take pictures of the spot where the coil/suspensionarm hit each other.
I run 3 degrees of camber in front and 2,5 at the rear. rolled arches and w/o innerfenders.
I would like to lower the back untill the rim and arch are meeting each other,

it seems once the front and rear are sitting at the same height to the other side of the car, all the stock parts seem to angle very well and cope with he car being much lower than stock!
see, i dont think mine is too far off a good stance! granded the wheels do need to push out a lil more but as for hight i think thats okay!

the photo angle dose not help either really as the front is about 15mm lower than the back!
Your stance works very well, in my opinion you are approved...
Your car is looking very good ENVYD.

Thanks for the reply. That\'s good news to me as I don\'t have to spend more money to buy other suspension components in order to get it lowered, except a set of coilly and a full wheel alignment. Job done!

thanks bud, think yours is better like! spesh if you could get it that bit lower! what size and offsets are you running with?
Christoffer, could you show me a pic? There are accessories that you can get from bc racing, that could maybe make you go lower. I have tanabe coilovers in know and wanted my car a bit lower so bought the bc racing ones:confused:

Thanks! wheels are 18x9 225/40 F&R
F et15
R et5
its the red spots in the picture that hitt each other under load.
Maybe its possible to grind abit on the coilovers to free some space.
How low will you go? seems that BC works well to that hight iam at now.

Yes bud i think it\'s fairly safe to say that has stance :Thumbsup!
improvements?... slightly lower profile tyres would help me thinks (esp. on the front! -Just seen some more pics from your progress thread.)
Ok, i see what you mean, i will maybe grind a bit off, before i put them on. I would probably go as low as you are, what profile are your tyres?

225/40 but i will change to 225/35 front tyres.
This is how low my car is.

What coilovers are you guys running?
What coilovers would you guys advise to get if i was to change from my TEIN SUPERSTREET (As you cant go low at all with them :(
Taking in mind i would a decent drive to it, not to harsh...
I\'m using MeisterR\'s .. http://www.meisterr.com/Site/MeisterR_Precision_Performance_Coilovers.html
15 Setting for damping (the softest is pretty cushiony and the hardest ridiculous!), they can go pretty low out the box, but if you want to go even lower without changing the spring preload the company can provide shortened damper inserts which would literally put the car on the tyre :D
I\'ll get some pics up when I get them off my phone that shows how low they went on the front :)

Are you running camber? If so, what camber arms?
Do you have any tyre wear issues? as yours is pretty damnnnn low :Thumbsup!
FD\'s come with adjustable camber/caster arms as standard and at the lowest I had mine they were still within a good range of adjustability, I currently run about 1 degree neg camber all round and the tyre wear is nice and even. Just make sure you get your geometry done after lowering the car or it will kill the tyres regardless (somewhere decent too like A-line, not kwik fit etc)
Also just noticed on the meisterR site that they have some Fd coilovers in clearance stock http://www.meisterr.com/Site/Clearance.html -£429 for brand new warranteed coilovers! ridiculously good price :P
Yeah, I had Meister Zeta S Coilovers on my EK9 (Previous car)…And it handled like a DREAM.
But think I better start saving up for these bad boys, as I have a few important bits to do on my FD. But will fork out the buck these in a few months.
How does your FD feel through bends and cornering with these Coilovers? ;)
my coilovers are zeal/endless
I know this is a sort of half answer but it really depends on the damping settings.. I can\'t fault them really, they are on par with the (triple the price++) buddy club coilovers I had on my old FD, UK company too, couldnt be arsed with having to send them back to japan or whatever.
If i\'m going for a spirited drive down some twisties i\'ll normally knock them up to about 7-10 clicks (out of 15), does a grand job. In the terrible, terrible roads around Coventry prob leave them on about 3.
It has highlighted how worn out my anti roll bars are tho, that\'ll be the next handling mod.
