Just got a couple of questions-
1, I have removed my air pump from my T2 and avcr which was the supply for my dump valve and boost gauge,as thats gone where would be the best spot to tap into? waste gate?
2, im looking to port my wastegate as the car is overboosting badly with the new exhaust. When we go to split the turbo housing\'s is there any seals that ill need to replace as its coming apart? Im not looking to rebuild the turbo, just port the wastegate.
Cheers:WaveBye
1, There is a nipple on the UIM around the BAC valve area. Think itsbelow the BAC valve from memory. Its hard to see as there are various other pipes etc around that area. It should be plumbed into the pressure sensor (well it is on mine).
2, You\'ll need to remove the turbo completly to get the exhaust housing off. Once the turbo is off its just 6 bolts and the housing will tap off. Remember to mark it so you get it back together the same. Then just lift the wastegate flap (you may need to bend the arm lever to get the flap open enough) and port away. Me and a mate just swapped my turbo at the weekend. Took us 5 hrs so you can probably do the job in 6-7 hrs if you can get someone to help.
1,awsome il hunt for that!
2, Can u remove the turbo from the manifold or do u have to remove the whole manilfold to get the turbo off?
Im going to get someone who knows what they\'re doing to port the wastegate though.
You can take the turbo off the manifold. Its a little awkward as the top 2 nuts have to be loosened then the turbo needs to be pulled off the studs slightly before you can remove the nuts. Its not that hard just awkward cause of the lack of room. It has to be done from underneath the car. The wastegate is easy enough to port, I did mine. Only took an hour max. Link below.

ah cool, looks pretty much straight forward then.Allso got to find the coolant leak in the turbo area as i can smell it once the car has warmed up,so thinking a water feed perhaps??
Yeah There are two banjo\'s on the turbo one you can see facing the drivers side wing and one opposite between the turbo and engine. The one you can see goes up above the turbo to a flange (mine leaked when I reassembled it). The gasket was baked on and cracked when I removed thye pipe. The other goes out the towards the front of the car and into a small hose that is bent 90degrees or so. I would think this pipe would be the most likely source of your leak. It feeds into the bottom raditor hose area.
Excellent, did u have to replace any of the gaskets? i expect mazda will charge me lots of monies for those.
Only the one water feed one. Luckly the ones on the turbo (oil feed/drain) were ok. Check the gasket on the water feed before you put the turbo back in. Its a pita to get to with a stanly knife blade when the turbo is back in. If its knackered then just make a new one out of gasket paper. Thats what I did. Then again I was lucky enough to have some knocking about in the work van. You\'ll be able to get gasket paper easy enough if you don\'t have any. They\'ll sell it on ebay if you can\'t find any local. Or msg me if you need one I\'ll make you a couple up and post them to you.
Just be careful with the exhaust housing - downpipe gasket and the exhaust manifold - turbo gasket. Mine were ok so I reused them.

It\'s 135 degree bend that hose - cos I replaced mine with some heavy duty thick walled silicon stuff. Banjo\'s are 16mm - I replaced the coppers on them as they\'d been weeping at some point, and as tiddles says - the only gasket you are likely to need replacing is the water feed one - undo the oil feed line form the join in front of the lower inlet manifold - once you mess with the one on the turbo it won\'t re seal most likely - and you\'ll have smoke. Likewise the oil drain - undo that near the front of the car.
okay excellent,il look to start work on it once the rear subframe is back in.
Once you had ported your wastegate did it drop boost levels much??
And if i need any new gaskets and i cant find any paper il def let you know:D
cheers matey
Not really much. I think I was quite conservative with the amount I ground out (could have gone more really). But I didn\'t want it cracking anymore than it has. Thye boost does seem much more stable though and the car seems smoother to drive.
oh cool,im looking forward to having some control over the amount of boost it can make.
Ive found that nipple and shes all plumed up now:)
