Title: Running a Takata Harness in my FD3S...
Post by: waqas_RX7 on March 16, 2010, 11:25:43 AM
Hi Peeps,

Was looking to strip my rear in my Mazda RX7 FD3S, but would be even better if I could run a Takata Harness with the rear seats in.

Question is….

1. Would I be able to run the Takata Seat Belt Harness with the OEM Rear seats? (If not, do not mind stripping the rear)
2. Do I go for the Takata Harness 4 Point Type ‘OR’ Takata Harness 4 Point Type Short?
3. Lastly would it be fine to run on my Mazda Speed Leather seats?

Any pictures of you guys running them would be very handy aswell.

Thanks :cool

i think you will need to loose the rear seats to use the harnesses properly, also you may wanna look at getting a harness bar like the one atomicrex does, this gives the harnesses a good mounting point

Nice one mate, ;)

Does the Harness Bar \'Atomicrex\' sell, mount on top of the rear suspension? Meaning working as a rear strut bar in a sense?

Thanks,

as for which harnesses you need... dont get the type short ones as they are for cars like mx5\'s where the mount point is right behind the seat...

as for mounting... no comment LOL!

Don\'t take offence guys this is a personal opinion only but i\'d never ride in a motor with harnesses and no roll over protection (rear hoop minimum) The FD roof is low enough to be nearly touching your head anyway without being unfortunate enough to be in a rollover situation and unable to move your upper body out off the way as the roof comes down!
