I believe you can also use a classic mini fan belt, but need to confirm that :)

Which belt? I replaced my alternator belt with a BMW E30 M42 powersteering (or water pump) one earlier...

its for the air pump removal goes from water pump to whatever pulley the air pump belt went, saves getting a double alt pulley.

yeah i only looked online, probably get it cheaper from motor factors, i paid about £13 inc postage.

Sh*t the bed, how long? According to ebay the belt was dispatched yesterday, I\'m hoping to have it for the weekend.

yeah i wouldnt worry then if its been dispatched already.
I seem to have bad luck when buying anything from the us through ebay, last time i got an fcd that never came an i only got half my money back, then six months later he messages me an says its just turned up on his doorstep, then he said he\'d send it back for like $30 or something, i kindly refused and eventually got my money back!:D

Just fitted my belt and it was a pain to say the least so i did a search on rx7club to get a bit of inspiration and found a few people had trouble getting the thing over the pulley.

This was really easy and took 30 seconds, just get a 17mm (i think) socket on the main pulley and turn the engine with your right hand and ease the belt onto the pulley with your left hand like a bike chain, slips right on.

Job done!:rollin

Don\'t know as i can\'t start my car till i get a battery and some oil in the gearbox,
It looks like a perfect fit with hardly any deflection and it\'s not too tight.  :Thumbs-up

sweet, I\'ll be fitting mine when it turns up. Only thing I was a bit concerned about was it being an un-tensioned belt, but it the fit is good then should be a problem.

Has anyone bought the pineapple racing belt or just the one from ebay?

I just got the one from egay, I couldn\'t see the point in buying the PR one when the one from the US is exactly the same.

nope, no longer than from PR. It took about 10 days to arrived from the site linked above.

I will say that i\'m not 100% about the fitment though and may just use this as a cheap alternative until I can knock up a twin alt pulley.
The belt fits fine but is not as tight as I\'d like and as its an un-tensioned belt there\'s no way of adjusting this.
Car will hopefully be up and running in a few days and I can let you know if theres any problems with the contact / drive under load...

Any interest in some (cheapish) twin alt pulleys if I get some made up and forum rules permitting :D?

If you can make up a twin alt im there! il order the belt for the time being and see how it goes.

Ive just recieved my PR belt and ive had a go and fitting it but in the end it just snapped as i turned the engine over with a socket.

The problem is when i go to slip it over the crankshaft pully there a three running grooves and the central one has a larger diameter that the two outside ones meaning i cant get the belt on.

Luckaly i bought two belts so i may have another go if anyone has any bright ideas?? the belt just seems way too tight too slip it over the pulleys.

Not quite sure what you mean! the belt should fit unless you have an aftermarket pulley?  did you just use your thumb to guide the belt on?

when i put mine on it was a tight fit as it get\'s stretched as it goes around the edge of the pulley, it did feel like it could snap fairly easily.

Some people said they got it on by getting the belt in position and cranking the engine to wind it on the pulley  would have thought that would be an easy way to destroy belts! and not something you could do on your own:rollin

maybe try using washing up liquid on the belt and pulley, lube that baby up!  :D should slip right in err on!

I understand that these are tight fits but even with the belt sat on the bottom crankshaft pulley it wont even slip onto the nose of the water pump pulley as its so bloody tight lol.
Heres a pic of a car with the pr belt, its not mine but i cant even get it to do this-

Can\'t really see very well, my moniter\'s really old! but it looks like a v belt pulley on the alt so it should be ok?

I used a spanner as a pry bar :2Rolleyes to get it just on the edge of the w/p pulley, then slowly worked it on as i turned the main pulley.

cool,il have another look tomorrow.Another thing that worries me is the bearings in the E shaft,i dont want over stress any part ie the bearings from me trying to put this sodding belt on.

2 person job from what it looks like.

Drop the alternator belt off, and just having it \'sitting\' there. Then try to lift the green belt into place, jam a screwdriver under it to lever 1 edge on and have a friend either turn the engine over or rotate the water pump pulley.

Looks a major stretch, but should go on!

I\'ll give you 2 other options - \'sell\' it to me cheap and I\'ll fit it to mine. Or send the dual alternator belt pulley to me when you succeed because I want one :p

haha yeah im considering buying a twin alt now.I dont think the belts have a great deal of stretch though beause as i eased it onto the water pump and rotated the crank it parted very easily.
Il have another go but i dint want to snap another one.il report back tomorrow though:)
