Post by: lee mills on March 10, 2010, 08:07:08 PM
Finally started work on the fc over the last couple of weeks. Already stripped most of the interior out last year. Started by cutting and welding up the rear arches ready for wide arches. Took a few pics and will update when theres more progress

New front wide wings turned up today courtesy of ep racing.
so when i got home from work i took the passenger side wing off to test fit new wing. fit was good needs a little fettling but not much. First ill need to weld a patch onto inner wing as it has a small rust patch so that can wait until the weekend hopefully

Title: Fc project
Post by: lee mills on March 10, 2010, 08:27:23 PM
Cheers Martin the car is going to be a drift come track car. No plans for big power (thats what the other car is for) so shouldnt have any probs noise wise for getting on track

Managed to get a bit more done this weekend. Got the rust cut out of passenger side inner arch then welded in a patch and undersealed it. Then fitted new front wide arch. Done the drivers side today and found another patch of rust to sort out but ran out of welding wire so that will have to wait until next weekend.

Spent all day fitting the bn bodykit from ep racing. After fitting there wide front wings the other week with no probs thought i would take the risk with there bodykit. The back bumper wasnt to bad just needed heating up and reshaping a bit likewise the sideskirts. The front bumper however was a shocking fit and needed a hell of a lot of work to get it somewhere near right still needs a bit of work but its getting there.

Title: Fc project
Post by: lee mills on March 21, 2010, 07:55:48 PM
Got the kit from ep racing. To be fair the kit has obviously twisted in storage and i dont think 1 days fettling to get it to fit was too bad considering the difference in price between that and an original kit.
fits well now though:Thumbs-up

Yes if you heat it up becomes more pliable and tends to hold new shape when it cools down

My kit was the same and that came from the States!! Not original but the most terrible fit you could imagine. Nice choise in kit mind you and will look uber cool for drifting.

Well for now the project is over:2Mad
Found out why previous owner did such a good job at undersealing the car its rotten :2Mad To say im cheesed off is an understatement. Noit quite sure what im going to do now but will make a decision when ive calmed down a bit

Well if this was just going to be a drift car then just replace what you can, its a fairly straight forward repair, especially those inner sills.  Its the one reason why I always opt for JDM cars, far superior and rust free.

Nice one mate and nice to see a cab getting the kit, its gonna look really good. If you go for the wider arches on the rear then they will need modifying a bit to come level with the boot level but other than that they slot straight on. Anything you need then give me a shout. Have lots of trim and interior bits for these cabs. Just need postage costs.

Both windscreen and light motor should fit fine. The windscreen trim on the cab is a bit different, but you can either use the original or some universal stuff...

What\'s the roof on the cab like? :p

Had a good day today managed to change the headlight motor (what a pain) and transfer most of the kit from the other car. Amazing how much easier it is to take original bumpers etc off when you dont have to drill all the rusted bolts out. :Giggle
A few pics for you hopefully tommorow i will finish fixing sideskirts, a little fettling with rear bumper and cut up bac arches and bond on the wide rear arches.

Small update.
Swapping the windscreen from the egi to the vert didnt quite go to plan they took the screen out of the vert first then managed to crack the one from the egi:Hammer so hopefully new screen will be in tommorow/friday.
Ive slightly altered the rear arches so i can blend them in this time. There on and will start the process of blending them in tommorow. Need to get all the prep work done on the car as it is being sprayed the week after next:D

Managed to pick up some cheap wheels off fleabay that were in desperate need of a refurb so ive spent the last couple of days refurbing them and although there not perfect im reasonably happy with them and they will do for now. Below is some before and after pics

The car is now ready for spraying. Ive blended the rear arches on and grafted for the last 5 days making sure its ready. The original plan was to spray it myself but due to not being able to find somewhere suitable im going to let the guy who sprayed my other car do it.  Anyway a few pics of how she stands minus the sideskirts which have already gone to the sprayer
(ignore the dust im just about to wash it;))

Small update.
Car Was sprayed last friday & saturday still needs a flat and polish at some stage but im happy with it for now:D Unfortunately the polythene peeled when being sprayed and managed to get some paint on the targa top:( Managed to get the paint off but left some scratches from scrubbing. Luckily managed to get another top off of PDTaylor (Thanks mate) so will fit that tommorow:Thumbs-up

Also just had a nice new set of hsd coilovers delivered so will be fitting those tommorow along with my refurbed wheels:D will then know what size spacers i need to get.
Will post some pics tommorow when everything is fitted (hopefully)
