Title: MOT Fail :(
Post by: MiniMike16V on March 10, 2010, 05:19:16 PM
Had my FC MOT\'d on Tusday and all in all, it wasn\'t a major fail.
Rear brake lines corroded, front anti roll bar bushes need replacing and a spot of welding. All of the above i\'m fixing myself (fingers crossed) but the worry I have is the emissions..... Read 5% on their scale and I need to drop it by 1.5%!!

Any ideas how I can do this?

I\'m thinking the lack of an air pump has a big impact hear, but hope you guys can help me out.

Thanks

Mike

Yeah the airpump will pull the emissions down a lot, my CO is 0.21% CO, have a look on 1300cc.com at the corvette electric smog pump mod (its basically an electrical air pump that can be plumbed in to where the OEM air pump is)

You could buy some flexi hoses and just bypass the original brake lines totally if you want. It\'ll sure make life easier! http://www.hosesolutions.org.uk/

Doh! Was hoping that there was an easier solution to the air pump! Does anyone have any pics of where bits attach for the pump please? Only ask as James McCarthy removed mine when he did my manifold, and didn\'t seem to have given me all the parts back for it. It\'s only for the induction piping as my exhausts centre section doesn\'t have the air pump inlets.

What ECU is it running on? I think if you run the rpms quite low it might be ok lol

Afraid it\'s a stock ECU. Heard they can be a pain to tweek?

Have you checked if the TPS is out? When did you last change the plugs/air filter and HT leads?

The TPS was checked a few months ago and adjusted. I replaced the air filter just before xmas with a KnN element. Haven\'t changed the spark plugs or leads since i\'ve had her as they were ok at service last year.

Engine wise she\'s running great. Made 146.6bhp on the rollers last week, and had a brilliant power and torque read out! 45" angle on the power and nice n level on the torque.
