Has anyone got any experience of having their car wrapped and how it has performed?
I am getting quotes for both and there doesn\'t seem to be much in it?
Thanks,
Dame
A wrap should be a lot less than a good respray.
wraps are about £1500 for a basic and can be upto £2500 for stuff like carbon look and chrome stuff, but it only last about 3yrs then they say it could do with being re done, theres a guy on here that does a full respray in ur base colour for £500 heres the linkhttp://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62433&highlight=cheap+respray
1500? i\'ve been quoted about 750 all in previously
If you want any questions answered about wrapping give John from wrapfx and shout and im sure he can answer any questions you have, including pricing.
Hes a trader on here http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53953
very interesting thread, i have considered wrapping but as one of my mates is a very good sprayer gonna take advantage of his skills :)
That\'s the prices I was quoted at a car show, so maybe they hyked it up abit for that, the carbon looks amazing tho the did it to a Porsche 911
£1500?!! that is a bit steep.
If you are trying to weigh up between vinyl or paint then there really is no contest, paint will get you a much much better, harder, longer lasting finish every time.
Vinyl is a good way to quickly alter your car\'s appearance but it is next to impossible to get a perfect finish and you can scratch it off with your fingernail if you are so inclined, so something that would t-cut out of paint will go straight through vinyl. Although you could then have the panel re-wrapped quite economically I suppose.
Good for race or drift cars as it\'s so cheap to re-apply, but it\'ll never be show quality.
If you want a superior finish go for paint, if you are just after a change as cheap as poss then go for the vinyl. :)
EDIT: oh and that decent, textured wrappable carbon is ridiculously expensive!

Those prices are about right, although the chrome stuff is not yet marketed as a real \'wrap\' material and I have doubts about it.

Depends what you are trying to achieve, if you want a red car have it sprayed.
If you want mat black or carbon I\'d consider wrapping.
I think it should be obvious that paint is harder and more hard wearing than vinyl, although you\'d have to be pretty determined to scratch it with you nail assuming it\'s been properly laminated.

Disagree, it\'s not cheap and as for show quality take a look at this site, it\'s where we but our software from. //www.auroragraphics.net
Take a look at the gallery and imagine trying to do some of that in paint........
There will always be the right choice for a particular application, if you want a red car have it sprayed. If you fancy mat black or carbon [can you get carbon paint?] I\'d consider a wrap.

I know a couple of Porsche owners who have had mat black wraps that wouldn\'t call it a \'cheap looking\' option.
Each to their own.
ooooh matt black.......I likey.:Laugh
Is that price of £1500 for a solid colour fairly accurate then on a car the size of a rex?
Does the vinyl come back off without damaging the original paint?
Cheers Tim

Yes, could be a bit less

Absolutely - if anything it protects the paint from UV fade.
One of the big electricity companies had their whole van fleet wrapped so they could be returned with an \'as new\' paint finish

Nice little contract
I wasnt really considering graphic wraps, was just putting across my view of plain colour vinyl wrapping, I suppose when you introduce graphics you can go into a whole new dimension that you couldn\'t do with paint unless you spent thousands on airbrush work.
I\'ll have to agree to disagree with most everything else Wrapfx said though, but no harm in everyone having an opinion! :)
p.s wrapfx you have a typo in your signature, quick get it gone, not ideal advertising for a signmaker. ;)
Well spotted - I\'ll sack the person concerned.
Argh, can\'t do that, it was me.
i want your desk clear by ten, and dont nick all the stationery.
just out of interest, is anyone in the uk doing electroluminescent wraps on cars?
EL Posters (http://www.edmonds.co.uk/electroluminescent-displays.html)
I\'ve seen that stuff, looks like fun. :)
