Title: total loss of boost.
Post by: nuki on March 08, 2010, 12:31:57 AM
Hello just a quick one before i try troubble shoot this tomorrow.
So hopefully some pointers to get me in the right direction.

Basically driving tonight at full boost uphill ,I started wheelspinning then an all mighty sudden power loss.. which inturn nearlly made my arse fall out and think engine failure.I drove the car with no boost to the next set of traffic lights and idle is fine and Power Fc commander boost peak hit 0.86 bar which didnt make a cause for concern

whats the most likley cause of 0 boost. not a boost leak just 0 boost.
Thank you.

assuming single turbo FC?
wastegate arm has lost the C clip and fallen off
or reversion has undone the nut for the turbo

but number 1 cause is a split I/C or piping or loose clamp

Usually when a hose is split i will hear a whoooooshing noise like its trying to boost but its not.
The boost wont go anywhere above 0

Could well be the lower intercooler hose you will need to take it off to check properly, if this splits you won\'t hear any wooshing and will have no boost

Either that or as has been said above, the actuator rod has fallen off the first turbo

Same thing happened to me a bit back.  No boost leaking noises.  Turned out the primary turbo bearing had collapsed and the turbo had jamed in it\'s housing.

Hope it\'s not the same for you!
