Title: Uprated discs & pads??
Post by: Jono FD3 on March 06, 2010, 10:17:57 AM
Guys, got the rex MOT\'d thursday & they picked up on a few minor things... one of which was the brake pads are coming up for changing, so I\'m in the market for some pads, and also the front disca have got a nice ware lip going on right on the outer edge of the disc (totaly normal ware but would like to change them).

So my question to you is.......
What would you sujest? I know gary has a set of AP racing calipers & discs for the front on sale, but can\'t justify £700 +vat (specialy with a new house & a rebuild coming up :( ) so you guessed it... I\'m on a tight budget :(
The car is going to be 400 - 450bhp if the new engine set up comes together as planned, it\'s used only on the road, although there might be a few track days thrown in once the new engine has been run it & set up!

So.... sujestions & links if you can please ;)

Cheers
Jono

Hi- just to let you know, if you\'re worried about polished rims, dont get Hawk!
I have them, great stopping power, but loads of dust eating my polished rims :(

I think mph-saab had some Project-Mu pads for sale on fduk!

I have 420 hp and on my trackday the weekend gone, my standard size discs and cheap pads were more than up to the job.

I also last year purchaed a RB front setup (standard size) front and rear discs cheapo off ebay, hawk pads and goodridge lines. The lot came to around 550 pounds and is as yet unfitted.

standard pads discs are very very good. if you have lots o money then splash out if you dont then dont.

i intend to do some testing of my braking distances before and after i fit my setup using the same conditions each time only variable being the brakes
