Title: Flooding!
Post by: Chachi on March 03, 2010, 05:41:01 PM
My FD seems to be flooded near enough every time I go to take it out for a spin. I don\'t drive short distances and I leave it running on the turbo timer once I\'m back (with the exhaust pointing out of the garage and door open). Any tips to stop this constant pain in the **** or what other causes are there? To be honest I think I need a new ecu or at least a new map so may be taking a trip down to the chaps at silverstone auto..problem solved?

hnmmm pretty sure constant flooding is down to warn engine? might be wrong though, and turbo timers arent a good idea, just drive the last few miles of your journey carefully keeping the revs and load down, then when you go to turn off, rev the car to 3k, and as you turn the switch off floor the accellerator and keep it down untill the engine stops.

that cleans out all the left over fuel in the engine.

i agree with malice, turbo timers are a no no just leaves your car getting warm and doesnt really cool the turbos.

as said above rev to about 3k switch off but accelerator to the floor, i do this and havent had a drama starting

If the above doesn\'t help. Leaky injector maybe?

I had always heard that persistant flooding was down to poor compression.

cheers, I\'ll give that a go. Had no idea that timers could be dodgy. The compressions been checked and its fine, hopefully these tips will keep me in good stead!
