can anybody confirm the brake diameter of a FD front and rear please

Which model? There are two different brake setups depending on which model you have.

i have FD 3rd generation

:) which one buddy? Year and model? E.g mine is a \'95 UK car of which there is only one variant, if yours is Jap it could be any year from 92 to 2002. It could be an RB, an RZ, a Spirit R etc etc etc.  16" wheels or 17\'s? etc. etc.

Most 16" wheel RX-7 run 294mm dia disks front and rear.
Late model cars, RS etc, run 314mm  disks (thicker at the front) and usually need 17" wheels to fit over the brake calipers.
