Title: Rear strut brace?
Post by: Welsh Dan on May 11, 2004, 10:56:41 PM
Hello.
I\'ve just bought my second RX7, but i\'ve noticed that this one appears to be missing a rear strut brace. In my first one (92 Type R) the rear strut brace was covered in plastic, and had two little clips for which the parcelshelf clipped on to. However, on my new one ( a type S I believe) there is no rear strut brace and the parcel shelf isn\'t actually clipped to anything and is free to move around the boot (albeit it not very far).
Can anyone tell me if there is supposed to be a rear strut brace and secondly, if not, what does the parcel shelf attach to, to stop it moving around?
Thanks
Dan

You will find many many small differences with a type S.

look at the front of the car for the biggest difference.
One Oil cooler is a common difference. (Not 2)

Interestingly my Type RB Bathurst does not have one either. I do have the 2 oil coolers though. It\'s amazing quite how many variants/specs there are!

Not having a brace doesn\'t meen there wasn\'t one on originally!

I\'d be quite suprised if they didn\'t all have the rear brace as it\'s part of the fundamental suspension design (check the diagram Si posted recently).

One thing worth checking out if you do have one is that it\'s doen up tightly - mine was really loose when i replaced it with the shiny cusco one I\'ve got on now.  Obviously if it\'s not tight then it may as well not be there.
