Title: Trust Greddy Touch Infometer
Post by: McC on March 02, 2010, 12:59:08 PM
I got a fd3s not that long ago, wasnt really looking for one, but there was an opertunity to be had so i took it. So since i got it i have been trying to do as much research as i can so i could get it running right.

The guy who had it before me didnt change the ecu before modifing it:Hammer now im looking at a rebuild situation, im about to go do the champagne test to make sure it is a water seal failure. But i would like to get the engine stripped and built right purely for peice of mind.

Anyway...the question im meaning to ask...in stead of having gauges all over the shop and an Apexi PFC is it not possible to use trust greddy touch infometer along with OBD sensor adapter instead of the gauges and then the trust greddy e-management unit instead of the Apexi ecu?

Was just searching through RHD Japan eletronic goodies and they seem to cover all the bases.

Brand new i think these three items would be pritty close value wise to brand new Apexi PFC and new gauges the only flaw that i havnt researched is if there is anyone in the uk the deals with greddy ecu\'s?

Cheers McC

e-manange on a FD3s rx7 is a piggy back ecu onto stock, not as good as a Apexi ECU which is a proper standalone ECU
The Apexi ECU you can add on a Commander, which displays all types of info for the driver eg Boost, water temp, etc etc
I defo do not recommend e-manage on a FD

whats so bad about piggy backing the stock ecu?

So techniqally you dont need gauges if you have a commander? obviously its easier to have gauges from a visual point of view.

And a seperate question, why does the prices for the Apexi ecu increase for 96 fd\'s onwards?

I didnt say it was bad, just saying the emanage is not as good. Apexi is plug and play almost, where by there is a lot more fiddling with the emanage to get it working right.
Plus you have a lot of support for the Apexi from the tuners here in UK.
Yip if you have the commader you dont need a lot of the guages, but it wont do things like oil pressure.

Have no idea on the prices tbh

have a look at the defi-link display, i have one and it scrolls through the various sensors quite nicely, can mount it virtually anywhere if you don\'t want dials all over the place. That and the apexi PFC commander does me fine.

Ive been running an e manage over 12 months now, mapped by Pip at WGT had no problems at all setting it up and made same power as the apexi unit, its capable of running additional injectors too.
Not sure if it can cope with a single turbo tho as im still running twins.
