Hi there, ive been looking at fuel pumps on ebay and i was going to buy the walbro255 LPH but i came across this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Walbro-Fuel-Pump-89-95-Mazda-Rx-7-305-LPH-RX-7-FC_W0QQitemZ160327896745QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item2554498ea9
i was just wondering if anybody has used it yet and would recomend it?
many thanks ben
struth - that\'s cheap for what it is - looks ok on paper :)
Might be worth checking over on Aus rotary forums or RX7club.com to see if anyone there has used them.
just a word of warning. i borught a walbro off ebay a while ago. only just got round to fitting it and it dribbles out fuel.
so just beware of cheap pumps. i\'m thinking maybe go for a bosch 044 but even heard there are cheap imitation ones flying about.
There are plenty of cheap imitations of everything floating around! Our fuel pumps come direct from Bosch UK, and prior to that is Bosch GmbH.
Watching the program Fake Brittan with Dom Littlewood is scary stuff! China pretty much makes everything and anything you want...complete with any stamps you ask for! It is a wonder more people are being killed by the tat that comes from over there! One guy was selling mini-motos that had chainsaw engines in them...but badged Honda! Trading standards labelled them as death traps!
Anyway the old adage of if its cheap then its probably for a reason!! comes to mind.
dont skimp on a fuel pump it could turn out very expensive if it all goes wrong
alot of people on the supra forums have used those pumps from those people... they all seem to be fine...
not everyone is out to screw people over and rob them of every penny they can, some places dont concentrate on making as much profit as possible!
Or a cheap upgrade is the FD fuel pump. which should cover basic mods.
ive got two of them im going to be running, they say they are good for about 700bhp each ive read but gonna run 2 intank to give me some lee-way
Would you want to risk your motor on the cheapest part? Buy something that is proven to work.
I was very dubious when i first saw these units, I now run the 365lph unit the DA-31 in my car, it has performed perfectly up to date, i also spoke to the owner of Driven Automotive after I bought the unit to check the inlet size and he explained where they get the units made and what testing they did. To me they just appeared to be selling an exact copy of the bosch pump with some uprated internals at a price which wasnt hiked up by a brand name.
I have heard alot of poor reviews of walbro pumps anyway. Why not just run a denso pump for oem fitment if it meets your needs or a bosch if you need more flow.
I bought one of those off ebay, wasn\'t happy with the look of it, so bought a proper walbro pump from a proper vendor etc.
Timmy, the walbro pumps are the best flowing pumps you can get, the only one that out flows it is the Bosch 044 and thats only at very high fuel pressure. Im not running huge fuel pressure, so I have a walbro :)

Thats simply not factual. The 255 is a 255lph pump and the denso is 280lph therefore the denso flows more. And the comment was more aimed at reliability anyway, i would much rather have a denso or a bosch in my car for peace of mind.
Flow more at what voltage/pressure though? might flow 280lph at 90psi and 16V
http://www.stealth316.com/2-fuelpumpguide.htm
at 13.5v and 43 psi. Walbro 341 = 255lph
Denso supra = 290 lph
It flows more it\'s quieter and it\'s more reliable.
FYI at if turn the pressure up it goes well over 300lph if i recall correctly.
"The Walbro GSS341 model (also called the 255 lph HP) flows a little less than the Supra Turbo pump up to about 67 psi line pressure (24 psi boost), when 13.5 volts are supplied to both pumps. However, at 12 supplied volts, the Walbro GSS341 outflows the Denso 195130-1020 above 55 psi line pressure"
So under a certain condition the walbro flows more; in actual real life working conditions the denso flows more. Not to mention again that the denso is more reliable and quieter. And as both pumps are probably suitable for this application in terms of flow i would pick the one which was better all round, flow is not everything when it comes to a fuel pump.
