Title: Complete SA/FB at Harry Bucklands (Glos) if anyone wants spares?
Post by: StavFC on March 01, 2010, 11:38:43 AM
As title really.
Popped to Buckies on Saturday to see what they had (they constantly have a wide variety of wierd and wonderful cars in for breaking) and in the rear section on the left is a complete SA/FB RX-7!

Buckies is a proper old-skool breaker near Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, the cars that are there, you bring your own tools and take what you want yourself, muddy, dirty, but the best way.

Their website is here with the address-
http://harrybuckland.co.uk/

The car looks complete, and relatively rust free, just messy, obv stood for years, lots of spares piled in the car, seems semi-dismantled.

Only damage I noticed was a broken rear side window and the bonnet has been pried open on both corners to attempt to open it as I think the bonnet catch is missing.

The car is white, has RX-7 in large writing on the bottom of both doors, has the large black rubber ducktail style rear spoiler, and some old-skool dished single piece alloys.

Looks ideal to get spares from.

Don\'t ring them, as TBH they know bugger all about cars, just go there and take all the bits you need.

Hope this helps keep some of your cars alive!

PS- Play down as much as you can what the bits are from etc, and youl get them for pennies, usually 3-10 a part, even for big bits, if they think they are fairly worthless. Even for rare as rockinghorse heads and stuff ive paid under £30 before from there.

Thanks Stav. I\'ve noted the address down in case anyone on here asks in the future. I keep an ongoing register of all 1st Gens I can find, roadgoing or scrapped.

I\'ll e mail \'em for the Registration but in case they don\'t reply, do you go past there often? Not worth wasting petrol for a special visit but if you do go past.......

Thanks as well for the information.
Dave.

To be honest, I dont know if it will be there long. I dont know how they go about things, but some cars are there for literally years, some cars are gone to the crusher within a week.

I won\'t be able to go there till next Saturday at the earliest I\'m afraid, which is a shame as its literally 5ish minutes drive from my house. Have a feeling it was old Y reg.

If anyone wants some 1st Gen spares, I\'d certainly head down there quick as I could, just in case.

Couldn\'t email so phoned \'em up. As you say Stav, they don\'t seem to know what\'s in the yard. They sort of said \'Mazda? nah, don\'t think we got one \'o them boy\'.

They said they\'d call me back but I somehow don\'t think they\'ll remember.

No matter, thanks for the info mate.

Do you know if the sunroof is rust free by any chance?

To be honest I dont know what all the standard wheels look like. They are single piece, fairly small, but dished.

Certainly not like these...

AR- I cant remember, BUT I do remember every panel, despite the usual small amounts of corrosion, looks pretty good, no holes or serious rust.

If nobody else can get there in time, ill go down on Saturday morning and take a look.

Like said though, utterly pointless ringing them about it, they dont know what it is I dont think, and thats a real bonus with them for getting cheap parts!

That would be great if you could let me know, is the only part that really annoys me about my car. One of teh previous owners must have used the sunroof as an anvil!
