Title: single turbo selection
Post by: SCOOMER on May 11, 2004, 06:56:18 PM
Im going single at the end of the year so im try to gather info about different 1\'s from people who have them on their cars.

Ive got it down too three; Garrett GT35, HKS TO4R, Apexi rbo6

Im after the RPM spool up difference between the stock twin and the single, top bhp you could possbly strangle out of  it with the obvious mods to suit.

Its not going to be just a track car, altho i will be doing the odd 1/4 and track. In a ideal world i would like very quick spool up with good top end but i know thats not going to happen!

Info would be much appreciated.

Scott.

What you want is a hks to4r with .96 a/r housing
It will give you exactly what you need.

When selecting a turbo, go for the smallest turbo that will give you the power you want. Basically the bigger the turbo the later it makes boost. For your application I would actually avoid the TO4R, greddy T78, Turbo netics T66, Apexi AX75, these turbos are all pretty big and not neeeded unless you want serious hp. These types of turbos are considered large, I think a medium sized turbo will be good for you.
I would recommend something like a HKS TO4S or a Greddy TDO6 25G, these turbos are used wth great success by circuit racers in japan. Both RE Amemiya and Panspeed use them on there race cars. Or if you want something roller bearing, which I think the benefits do not outway the rebuild costs, then go for a GT3540.

Max has 359 at the wheels at 13psi to date.

New 35/40kits go for circa £2.5-3K depending where u get it and how much tax/duty you pay!

I have a TD06-25G on my FD, although I\'m not very knowledgable when it comes to turbos, I do drive hard and fast and this turbo is working very well... this is top of the range in the TD06 series I believe.
