Guys, can someone have a quick look through the calculations below & see if they sound about right?? I\'m not too sure, but I\'ve checked & tweeked the figures & they seem to be about right! Or I\'ve been tapping a calculator for that long I\'ve gone blind! LOL
Anyway:
All figures are FWHP.
NA 13B REW: about 186bhp (This one could be wrong??)
Stock twins @ 0.9 bar: 350bhp
T04B @ 0.85 bar: 346bhp (max before surge @4k & choke top end)
T04E 60 trim @ 1.17 bar: 385bhp (max before surge @4k & choke top end)
Do these figures sound sbout corredt to you guys? just so I know I\'m getting this all correct for my calulations ;)
Another way to realy test it, is by telling me what turbo you are running and at what pressure (don\'t say BHP), Then I can check back with what my figures tell me.... this way we can see how accurate the formulas are ;)
Jono
Imo the figure for stock twins is a little high for a stock ported engine, from research the 350mark seems to be the norm for a street port on twins.
Just my 2p
re: stock twins my stock twins with sports cat and cat-back make 323bhp @ 0.9
my stock twins with, air filters , intercooler , downpipe , de-cat , back box made 322bhp at 0.75 bar and 298torque from pip
gt42 1.28rear 0.9bar
These figures are basicaly calculated with a free flowing intake system (only 1psi of flow lost) and a restriction free exhaust.... basicaly what the physical engine can make. so a full down pipe, decat, & free flow system with an aftermarket induction should run about 350 @ the fly.

im guessing thats for twins
do mine ;)
i assume your talking a stock port engine aswell?

Nuki, those are great figures for only 0.75bar was that on stock ports? mine was also mapped by pip but mapped for 0.9bar and made 326hp and 289lbs.
It seems that every rebuild is unique as at 0.9bar ive seen posts from people getting anywhere from 290-350hp with similar levels of bolt-ons.
Is this just down to tuning?
Condition of turbos, induction kits vary the intake flow rate, as do brands of exhausts, not to mention the IC pipeing & IC core efficiency.
if all these had poor flow rates you could lose 30 - 40 bhp to ones with good flow rates! Somone was saying they lost about 100bhp by rinning 2 Impreza mid silances on their FC compaird to straight pipes to the rear boxes!!
Jono
Well its funny you say...
Because while pip was mapping he thought there was something wrong but i think he just confused himself because he was looking under the bonnet while his mate was pressing the accelerator.. then he pulled a funny face at me lol then after the first run he came and talked to me and said you either have a good engine or really good tubs and i should be happy with them figures...
I said to my mate i would be happy if i got 320bhp before we arrived and that’s what we have so im happy with that. So we left the car at 322bhp at 0.75bar on the first run.
The car was running a standard ECU before apexi tune...
The engine had been fully standard since it entered the country years before the tune.
The car is running 160,000km and totally unknown history...
160k....i would imagine its had a rebuild, it could have had a small port on it at the same time, enough to gain power but not enough for the stock ecu to cry like a little girl. though thats only a guess, what intercooler setup do you have?
£80 universal job off eBay which mounts in front of the radiator.(i purchased a £130 eBay radiator special at the same time) then the outlets come out the side on top of the chassis legs then they go down the side of the radiator then meet back to the standard plenum and crossover
From this when I bought it.

to this.. then i got it mapped.

please excuse the horrible intercooler and radiator mounts. this was temp for mapping + the inlet is now polished aswel.

although i might be wrong about the torque i dont really understand it :$....
hmm i should be looking at some good figures then with mine, stock engine non sequenctial turbos, panspeed fmic, koyo rad, downpipe, decat, racing beat exhaust, apexi induction kit and PFC...what figures do you reckon?

i like your setup, i think it looks pretty good, what is the little blue box that is sitting on the righthand side of the engine next to the strutbrace.
well the power you are making at a low boost shows your cooler is flowing quite well, have you since changed that?
Your right about your torque though, its wrong, its probably 290lb at 5100rpm if you take that blip out.
was running t88 34d
new turbo borg warner s475 1.32 t6
really! thats the same turbo im going for, did you get the ETT, how much and whats your spool like?
na im not really going that big, ill never spool it im only running a big bridgeport and not using methonol
just wanted to see what figures he came up with
oh right, have you changed turbos then, ive decided to go with a 1.1 rear end because according to a few people you see gains in spool by running e85 which i didnt know before so im thinking of loosing 500rpm in spool by running racegas instead.
they spooled a t6 1.32 on a stock port engine, hit 15psi at 5300rpm, ive got a link if you fancy reading it
you going with a 1.1 t4 then?
what was that on meth? in america i presume?
nah, going with 1.1 t6....on e85 with a streetport in sweden he hit 1bar by 4000rpm
http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=804713
the stock port was also on e85, completey stock mazda engine, never opened up and had done 37000miles, ran 9sec qtrs, the funny bit is, because it was running 32psi of boost it made bar at 5300rpm and the boost was still rising up to 32psi by 8200rpm....which was good because the boost increasing wouldnt let the torque drop off so made loads of power.....even if the powerband wasnt massive
http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=816447
you running e85 now then?
no diesel:rollin
no ill be running racegas and pre turbo w/i, id like to run e85 but theres nowhere around here that sell it and id need alot bigger fuel setup than im planning which would cost to much money.
i figured c16 and 770cc of water would be more than enough
ye ok so the theroy youve based your setup is on e85 have you an equivalent on yours? e85 has very different characteristics to c16. e85 is available at most morrisons
the only one up to yet ive found that is running race gas is a rx3 in america
he made 769rwhp at 30psi of boost on racegas.
hes running a side exit like i will.
the issue is hes running a bridgeport and thats on a dynojet.
from what i could work out, there rwhp figures are similar to our flywheel figures so thats the closest i could find.
but saying that, i also checked something on a online qtr mile calculator.
i typed in 470whp and 1200kg and it come up with 10.3@130mph which is the same power and pretty much the same terminal speed as blitzboy.
i then typed in 620whp and 1250kg into it and came out with 9.82@143mph and in real life it ran 9.85@142.99mph which tells me its pretty accurate. that car claims 620whp@28psi(which it ran at strip) and 709whp@33psi on a stock port.....all e85 again
So i dont know what to think when it comes to american dynos, i know dynojets read higher but then im shown evidence like that and it makes me wonder
does it say hes running a bridge? might sound like a bridge but it may be bigger, like i said high hp cars wont tell you everything, type in whatever you like you cant take into account real world effects and variables
i know that mate, theres loads of variables, even if you match perfectly someone elses build it can come down to how good your tuner is, or what ecu you run.
he does say hes running a bridge, he is running on a different manifold but you can see hes not pp, he could be jport but he hasnt mentioned it or modified his intake to show it.
my aim is 700bhp at around 30psi of boost, ill be honest and i might not get that but as long as its about 660bhp then i can achieve what i need to.
My new intercooler arrives tomorow so im getting there slowly.
Not really sure which dyno to take it, ross is mapping it because hes mapped over 2bar on a power fc so hes confident we can do it, i did think about pips hub dyno as no wheelspin plus ross has mapped silverrexmans at 2.2bar on it so knows what to expect
ye but the silver snail never really produced the goods did it???
i read the thread where it did 780bhp on pips dyno but ill be honest and say this was a year before i bought an rx7 so i dont really know what happened to it afterwards.
I just come across his thread while i was browsing fduk.
Do you know what happened as sounds like you have more knowledge on it that me
it run a late 10 driven by Ross one run, then Steve got a girlfriend and has not touched the car since lol
It should have run 9s if campaigned more
awww thats a shame, does he still have the car do you know, just drives it on the road now?
I think its just stored at the moment he drives a Scooby, a lot of money has been spent on it, its definitly not a daily drive type car lol
well yeh, pretty mad sounding idle from the videos, id be interesting to see what the porting is like.
Hows your car going anyway, full season of drag racing again this year?
I was gonna ask you what diff you run as you seems to give it alot of grief, i havent got the money for one yet but maybe next year if i find im breaking diffs alot
He has a massive full Bridge port probably cutting into the water jackets.
Yip its in having the cage put in at this moment at Andy Robinson race cars, first round of the HKS series in March 21st at Pod can not wait :D
I run a Kaaz 1.5 way plated diff, the casing has a larger Greddy Cover to hold more oil for cooling of the diff and a diff brace.
The stock Torsen LSD will be fine for top speed runs so long as you dont launch hard
yeh i was hoping it should be fine as its not gonna be loaded up pretty hard, i was more thinking that maybe next year i might like a go at drag racing, used to do alot with my old cars but they were only 12sec cars, Assuming i get traction(drag tyres would be bought) id be in a 10sec car. I thought you might have a kazz but wasnt sure as alot of them use 9" diffs in usa, but maybe thats because they are go cheap over there.
Well a Jport would probably explain the funky idle it has, but that might have been intensified by the recording being in a dyno room.
Id really like to see your car in action actually and cheer you on so i might come along, me and mr willday were big rivals back in our old cars as we had the same tuner, i won the last event but we were very close in times its just he broke the gearbox on that car aswell, poor lad was never soft on transmissions! is it a very busy event, or is it part of another event?
