Title: Converting fd3s twin turbo from auto to manual
Post by: Dansrx7 on February 24, 2010, 09:17:32 AM
Hi wonder if any one can help, I recently brought rx7 in auto as it was very cheap. I now want to convert to manual I have everything to do it and while I\'m there it will change the engine to  one I have. Just bit confused on engine loom I was told by tunners I can use auto loom and ecu. What I will have to do is join wire at the gear box and join the two thick ones together. Has any one does this that can give me any advice???

Very easy and best to continue to use the Auto loom...
I guess you are going for like for like with the standard sequential system and all the sh!te associated with it... good luck!

You do need a \'manual\' ECU though..
The way you are doing it by keeping all the waste Mazda included on the Engine I believe has a few additional \'different\' bits you need to get the wiring sorted for.
Unfortunatly I cannot help with that as I believe it should all be in a bin!
 But good luck

If staying with the twins I would do away with the sequential set up and also all the emmissions kak.... It simplyfies the Engine and components, creates a bit more cooling area around the Engine and a far less chance of silly things failing or go wrong on you!

It\'s a sports car after all... :bandit

You can convert this

To this

definitely worth doing imo, you can also lose solenoids I & J if you fit a boost controller.
