Title: NEW MEMBER - Portugal
Post by: FilipeA on February 22, 2010, 01:17:23 PM
Hi

My name is Filipe, i am from Portugal and i am a car enthusiast.

I always enjoy cars since little boy and always tried to have cars that when i had 14-18 years old, only saw them on magazines.

Now its time to own a 1993 RX7. After some weeks trying to buy a Nissan 300 Zx TT, (300zx seller wanted money and the car) i saw this well care and very nice Rx7 for sale and WELL, WHEN I SAW IT, I DIDNT THINK I JUST BOUGHT IT.

Before buy it i search on internet and looked for some advises in this website.

Its my first rotary car, and i hope that everything will go fine with that. I love my car, its beautifull from every angles - much better them 300zx - even my wife likes it, wich its great

Details

1993 Rx7 - Euro spec
It has 2 oil coolers, leather seats, metal sunroof, etc... it had only 39.000 km, may be 25.000 miles on it.

The only problem that i nottest its the 5 gear problem that i will resolve soon.

The only thing that it missing its the original owners manual that iam looking for...(ANYONE has one for sale??)

Besides that its a beutifull car that i will try to maintain carefully.

Thanks

Filipe

Welcome,

5th gear syncro is a known problem on the car.

Normally you need to open up the compelte gearbox to fix it but on rx7club.com someone found a faster way and did a write up.

You can also try to find a good second hand one

Hi

I read here that UK spec are rare and there were only made 124, it means that were made both RH and LF cars, a total of 124 units?

My car is number 120. Where i can get that information?

Thanks

Filipe

Ola, Filipe, com esta? (right, that\'s about all the Portuguese I can remember from working in Madeira, sorry :o). Welcome to MRC :wave, and your car looks in great condition. A lot of UK models had problems with rust, but if yours has been in a better climate for a while it\'ll hopefully be sound.

Manuals are pretty rare, eBay may well be your best bet. Alternatively, just about every manual, owners and workshop can be found here online   http://foxed.ca/foxed/index.php?page=rx7manual

Hi Filipe, Welcome to MRC and we hope it will help you a lot with your good looking RX-7

Yes European specification cars are rare in all country\'s because when the RX-7 was launched soon after the Porsche 928 came out and Mazda took around £5,000 off the price and also gave up trying to sell the RX-7,

All this meant there were very few cars sold,

Not sure how many cars sold in Portugal but to give you an idea only 26 sold in France over 3 years :3Confused,

Lastly I do not think you will get any real info because Mazda were using franchise company\'s to bring cars into Europe and here in the U/K Mazda do not have records from before they took over running Importing these cars themselves,

Have fun out there :driving

Thanks to all for the comments.

From what i have search over here, Mazda Dealers in Portugal sold about 7 or 8 cars back in 1993.

There are maybe another had full of FD but they were imported from UK, they are RHD and do not have Portuguese License for their time.

From what i can tell, this is really fun and weird, because there were sold in Portugal Mazda dealers diferent RX7 specs and it means that Mazda sold the EURO spec, the USA spec and the Canadian spec over here.

Thanks

Filipe
