Hi All, I\'ve got another set of series 3 wheels I\'m going to get refurbed, the problem is what tyres to use, my present wheels have Goodyear nct 205/60r14, which I put on some 16 yrs ago they seem to be working ok, but Goodyear and most of the good names no longer make this size, the only firms making this size I have never heard of, so does any one have any idears on what to use.

Gus is running on some Yokohamas at the back but I did get a set of BF Goodrich Touring a few years ago and these are my best tyres. The beauty of these tyres was that their profile virtually matched the old Dunlops that came with the car. They didn\'t \'baloon\' outwards when viewed from the back or front like some tyres do.
At 16 years on the NCT\'s I\'m sorry to say you want to be off those Dibs. I had the same tyres - NCT\'s - through the \'90\'s but I think 8/10 years is the max you should run \'em for. 12 years at a push?
Dibs,
For the milage and speed that you\'re going to be doing, the \'budget\' name tyres are ok I think.
I had Nankang 205\'s on my last RX7 and they were really good, quite a soft compound and very sticky. Probably wear a bit quicker due to being a soft compound but for the price, you can\'t really go wrong.
Here\'s the type of thing...

I\'d use them again without hestitation.
Most of the budget tyres, Falken etc will do the job.
Even a budget tyre will seem like an improvement on a 16 year old nct!
As Stu says Yokohama\'s are available and are a great tyre, but slightly more expensive.
For the milage I do, I\'d probably use Nankangs again but this is just my choice.
I\'m having a bit of a tyre nightmare at the moment, I\'ve just been quoted £270 for 1 Pirelli P-Zero to go on the front of my car.....outrageous!
£35 squid for a nanking tyre,i\'d of had them if i\'d known!
That pirelli price is laughable,i put a yokohama 295/35x18 Z speed for i think £150.

Hi All, thanks for the input, just found these Dunlops

But I think you are right my present tyres are past it.
And in my book Elite are the Doggies Doodahs.
I got some big back tyres for a Merc a year back. I wanted a certain obsolete Michelin pattern. After saying \'No can do\', they rang back, said they\'d found 2 for me. I ordered at 3 pm one day and they arrived at 10 am the next.
Thats Essex to South Yorks in way under 24 hours....Great Service.
Then I paid my friendly Merc dealer a few quid at the next pitstop to fit \'em without nicknacking my rims. Sorted at a bargain price.
David, I\'m glad you have said that about Elite as one of the owners used to be a good friend of mine, but then that was a few years ago, and now I think his son runs the place...........
