guys, for some reason the mazda 1000 thread i started is still locked, i would normally post this there.
Anyway - just fitted up a series 5 oil cooler beneath the radiator on the little 1000 - just wanted to get some opinions on it?
piccies!

this was the other option - behind the rad - didnt like it because i\'d then need a pusher fan :(

what ya think?
Mounted under the radiator thanks :)
that will be fine Steve.
And i thought you had no room!
Regards
Carl
Just got to get the turbo in now on that PP 13b.
What\'s the clearance like to the ground on that ?
I\'d be cacking myself that would be off on the first speed bump :eek
its low - but its got 6-8\'\'
lay it flat under the radiator
i have done this for years , no issue
- over 100 000 km - on my rx2
and i also do so on my FC rx7 ( for the last 15 000 km )
( everything relocated due to v mount intercooler )
the rx2 ran the oil cooler flat under and behind the radiator
the FC runs it at approx 45 degrees from below and in front of the radiator
( to form an air dam )
if you have read the "australian mazda rotary handbook" ( john Wright )
you will note that in the racing mods section they also advocate the flat oil cooler
( and they note that the "horizontal" install runs 10 C ( 18 F ) cooler than the vertical one )
your other option of course is the water/oil heat exchanger / leak maker found on the s3 rx7 oil filter pedestal
cheers bumpy! i\'ll see what its like here - can always make small adjustments later....
Mount it Bozozuko style:
