Title: Calling all OEM turboed FCs
Post by: m1tch on February 14, 2010, 01:03:14 PM
Hi everyone, just had a chat with TiddlesRX7 regarding drag racing this year, we both think that a fastest stock turbo fc would be a pretty cool friendly competition this year, so all you need to run is an OEM turbo and an FC lol

The winner will have the bragging rights to having the fastest stock powered FC (until next year when this could happen again lol)

Basically the rules are this:

Must be an FC with a 13B
Must still have the stock (series 4 or series 5) turbo bolted onto the side
Must not be running in the X class (ie needs to be road legal)
Must be able to drive the car to the drag strip
Must have a time slip
Must be a run in 2010 (or this could be ongoing if people go for this like the \'who wins\' thread :D)

All modifications are allowed ie any intake, exhaust, electronic, fueling or suspension setup etc etc

It might also be an idea to post up the time and any mods you have on the car/tyres you are running. This might be helpful for newcomers to see what power/performance you can get with what mods.

It will just be a cool inter-FC competition and it would just be interesting to see how fast a stock turbo FC can be (I know the FDs have the fastest twins thread)

I think there might be quite a few runs at rotorstock this year, but any RWYB event is fine :)

sounds like the 100mph competition :D

just a crying shame mine is an auto - i cant see it putting in any good times ... BUT... it does seem pretty quick into 3 figures - as you dont loose boost on the changes

might have to give it a bash ;)

No boost loss FTW :D im sure you can remap the autobox ECU for better shifts though :)

My fastest on the strip was a 14.2, got to 99.2mph GRRR SOOO CLOSE lol

thats very close

the advantage with the auto - is if you hold it in 3rd you can get well over 100mph

so you only really change gear twice :D

I am actually looking forward to racing this year as I should actually be able to hold more than stock boost, my turbo actuator can\'t cope and the wastegate porting is just pushing the flap open lol *FAIL* but I will have a HKS actuator fitted soon and I have just collected a parallel fuel setup so I can feel safe with my 1680cc secondaries :)

I\'ve had over 100mph terminals. Think my best was 104mph or near as dam it. Yet my fastest run was a terminal of 98.something iirc. Odd to say the least.

I was thinking about what we would class your turbo like lol technically everything is stock apart from the compressor housing, so technically its mainly stock and the stock part of the turbo is bolted to the engine so I guess its fine :rollin

Actually - to be fair - the only bit that is stock is the turbine wheel, as turbine housing has ported wastegates.

Still - I may offer a fair competition - as my car is a good deal heavier than you\'re coupe\'s by nearly 200Kg\'s - so any advantage I get from my modded stock turbo will be lost.

My wastegates will be ported by the time I run up the strip again. Im almost certain that my boost problems are related to the wasegate sticking, so its gonna have to come out to be freed off anyway.

Kerb weight

2,625 lb (1,191 kg) - 3,071 lb (1,393 kg)

Although its kinda difficult as my drivers seat now weights 6kg lol

I think the 1420KG is a dry weight figure - so it\'s a bit more with fuel, oil, coolant etc added.

Plus there\'s the weight of the driver to consider :D
