Title: WI on a lightly modded fd ??
Post by: neil_jdmr on February 12, 2010, 12:58:37 AM
As above really,

Is putting a good WI system a worthwhile addition even on a lightly modded fd.

By lightly modded i mean pretty much full exhaust inc dp/smic/induction/pfc 330hp @ 0.9bar on standard twins.

I would not be going for any more power (if i was obviously fuelpump/injectors/fpr combo would be needed) but really wanted to know whether WI would act as a good safeguard or would it just be money wasted at this light level of tuning.

Just thinking out loud

Thanks guys

I would save a bit more and buy a good IC set up, get them low before using additions.

hopefully one of the guys with WI will be along to help, but from what I understand you\'ll need to upgrade your ignition to get a stronger spark.

one of the big benefits of WI over other charge cooling stuff - i.e. intercoolers - is that it allows you to have a much leaner mix as you are using the water to cool the charge and the combustion chamber, as opposed to the .... loads of fuel that normally gets chucked in! as such, you\'d probably need a remap to make full use of it :)

0.9 BAR no real point using the WI, WI is good for running high boost without the need for Racegas.

Invest the money in a better Intercooler at your level of tune
