Im assuming a lot of you use your FD\'s as a weekend toy, so what do you do about your battery\'s? My Dads into his bikes (nobodys perfect :p) and has used a battery conditioner for years and seems to swear by them.
I\'ve been looking around and AutoDistress seems to think that the CTEK 3600 (http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/products/59293/battery_conditioners.html) is the daddy. Its £50 or thereabouts which seems pretty good, especially as I had it in my head it\'d be around twice that!
What do you guys use/suggest?
Replied on FDUK, dude :Thumbs-up. Moral for the day: listen to yer ol Dad :rollin
interesting topic.. can u copy n past the reply from fduk nik or type again :)
LMAO, its just Nik\'s ego bursting out of his leather biker costume :p
Quote from: Lucky;161613Like your Dad, I\'m into my bikes too and swear by battery conditioners. Apparently unlike your Dad, I am perfect :p :D
I\'ve got one like this; http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?cls=MCYCLE&pcode=DAT02012011 My Rex battery was so flat it didn\'t even have the gumption to get the courtesy lights to come on, and the big bulk car charger I\'ve got just held it\'s metaphorical hands up and said "Battery fduked, replace immediately". Or words to that effect. My conditioner brought it back from the grave. Took about seventy hours to charge it up, but the car started first time. Looks like this is one of those unusual times when Dad does actually know best hahaha :D
^^ nope, it\'s my flabby belly that does that :o

thanks man.
that image just scared me for life :Giggle
CTEK 3600 is what i have been using for over a year it never let me down, unless i forgot to plug it in.
Accumate have never let us down, mine has been on/off one for at least 4 years now!
i suppose you need a garage to park the car in ( unless they do a waterproof version )
I\'ve attached the wires permenantly to my battery terminals and use the plug to connect/disconnect to the same conditioner. (Battery is relocated under rear bin on passenger side).
Plug tucks neatly under the boot plastic when not in use.
Used it for the past 2 years without problem.
Keep saying I will buy one of these each time I have a flat battery but never seem to get round to it. So yesterday lunchtime I ordered a CTEK XS 800 from MDS batteries (via Amazon) for £37.99. I went for the free 3-5 day delivery, DHL delivered it today, no more flat batteries for me :)

The packaging for the CTEK XS 800 says "CTEK Chargers are splash-proof/rainproof and approved for outdoor use"
ohhh thats always interesting to know - but then i suppose you have to leave it plugged in outside and risk the change of someone nicking it :(

You can fit a couple of small jack sockets somewhere, front bumper lip, and just plug in from longer lead leaving the unit indoors, although not much good if its parked on the road, but ok if you have a driveway.
i have some external sockets so that side isnt an issue - but i still wouldnt trust it outside !! LOL
i was thinking of using a solar charger to see if that would keep the battery topped up enough ?

They could only nick the cable, the unit would be indoors.
Portable Solar chargers are just not up to the task i tried.
oh right :(
well that could save me a job then !! LOL
Yep, got an Optimate on the Rex and another on the bike!
Rex has one of those silly little dry cell batteries and its good as gold. Without the Optimate i doubt very much it would have lasted these last 3-4 years.
