Title: Stereo
Post by: Ricco_04 on May 09, 2004, 09:59:49 PM
Hi guys, I have just been trying to take out the stereo and it aint quite as easy as I thought! I have the original panasonic unit (no release keys supplied)

Just wondered if there was a way to take it out - I have tried little screwdrivers & feeler guages & taking the top piece out above it.

Any ideas (or am I being a tight ass by not buying some more releasing  keys . . . . hang on, dont answer that bit!)

Hi Mate, usually the jap stereos are screwed into a metal frame behind the plastic surround, they do not have like a spring clip fitting like uk models. try removing the platic heater control panel and you should see the srews holding it in place.

Ah sorry, I should have said I have a UK car.  I put my hand through from the spare compartment above (after removing of course!) and could only feel the stereo chassis?

But thanks for the swift reply :wave

Right, I have the stereo out - well all but one lead!  I think its the aerial lead but there are no clips to remove it.  The wire is hidden round the other end of the dash so I started to unscrew bits from the stereo but still not getting to the wire?

Is this deffinately the radio feed and should I just lop it off??
