Title: UK/JDM Spec lights
Post by: MiniMike16V on February 01, 2010, 09:25:32 PM
I\'ve seen a few subtle differences in the way the lights work on UK and Japanese spec FC\'s and was hoping someone could shed some light on it (no pun intended;))

The flasher lense in the front bumper on UK spec cars doesn\'t light up when the lights are on dip beam where as JDM cars they do. Also with the side lights on the UK spec car, the lights pop up and both the small side lights and main lights come on only dim.

Was there a reason for this, and is there a way to have the lence illuminate when the lights are on? Think it looks pretty smart when the bumper lense is illuminated too.

The JDM cars have a small bulb in the flash to pass lense - this is what is illuminated whe only sidew lights are active on a JDM car, :wave

I like my FTP lenses :) as you can see the full beam from the main headlight though them, rather thank a smaller bulb flashing :)

Here\'s aaron cakes write up on daytime runnig lights,

http://www.aaroncake.net/RX-7/lights.htm

I saw a thread over on rx7club ages ago where the ftp lenses were taken out and cleaned with fine grit wet n dry and then plastic polish, they looked brand spanking new.
Searched for ages and eventually found it but the pictures have now gone, shame cos they did look amazing when done.

im sure prof said there is a relay you can pull out under the glove box - this way on a UK car when you have your side lights on - it will shine thru the FTP Lenses ?

my old egi used to shine through the ftp with just the sidelights on but my t2 doesnt?
So is yours the same as mine, sidelights on lights pop up?

Hope it is just a relay to pull!:rollin

mine is a JDM - so sidelights are the FTP , dip beam lights up - full beam lights up

if you flash when the lights are down , they raise , flash and then drop

Never realised there was that big a difference in the 2 specs! Odd how the FTP lense isn\'t used for it\'s purpose on JDM cars. Kinda makes it useless really?

On my EGI the lights pop up for side lights, dipped and high beam. Although to be fair, a lot of the time I run with high beams when it\'s dark as the light projection is shocking and I don\'t get many flashes to tell me off! Will be taking the lenses off at some point to clean them inside.

Like that link on how to change the lights! May have a go at that one.
