hi guys while there is a t11 breaking i would like to know what i need to get my rear diff swapped out of my egi for the lsd. Any help would be great as i will take all the stuff from the guy breaking his hopefully.
cheers james
I believe it is quite a job & requires the shaft to be altered in length & that your need the diff housing, both shafts that go from the diff to the hubs & the diff brace but not 100%
very few TII\'s had a LSD so be sure to check it is actually a LSD. I thought the egi and TII diffs were in the same casing but not sure.
Totally agree with antnicuk as the LSD is as rare as you like in the TII. I seriously doubt it is unless you can get the proof. Not sure on the housings, I thought they were the same. Its just the gearbox and prop shaft that are different underneath as the TII gearbox is longer.
Someone did tell me a way of telling a LSD apart from standard and something to do with turning one wheel and seeing which way the other turns (or doesn\'t) I expect someone can tell you how to tell.
I thought the t2 diffs were different to the egi\'s as you cant drop an fd diff in an egi but u can on a t2 lol.
This is what ive been led to believe.
egi and turbo11 diffs are completly different,
depending on what type of lsd it is, i had a stock lsd from an efini FC, if you turn 1 wheel the other should turn the same way if its lsd and if it turns the opposite way its an open diff.
So what would i need to swap a fd diff into my t2?
Are the crown wheels the same? or do i need the crown wheel from an fd aswell?
Allso what diffs are in the fd\'s?
I think you just swap out the FC internals and pop the FD ones in by all accounts. Not that anything is that easy!
oh okay sounds simple but i know it wont be.Any ideas how good the diffs are in the fd\'s? im after one that will lock up as much as possible.
If they are good enough for the FD then good enough for the TII and anyway it will give you LSD for relatively small pennies.
Did the lsds in the fd\'s vary through out they\'re production or are they all of the same type?
all fd are the same torsen lsd. i put an fd inards into my t2. you have to use the t2 crown and pinion. worked well. and guess what. i have a fd diff for sale.
How much would you want for the fd diff? What sort of condition is it in?
i paid 100 quid for it but id take an offer as im clearing out the shed. its in exellent condition.
Okay, well if u still have it at the end of the month would you take £80.00 posted for it?
posted lol, no
Worth a try tho lol, what do you want for it posted? :)
its very heavy so i wouldnt want to guess a price for postage. id take 80 for the diff. i could try and find out how much it will cost to post.
Okay il have it off you if you have it at the end of the month as I\'m snot poor at the moment.
you going to any shows, i could maybe bring it to????? ill get a price for postage. if you text me your address 07855 348383

text recieved. i havent got a price yet though.:spank
dont pay too much attention to the american link. it is confusing because it uses american spec viscious lsd\'s and miata(mx5) torsen diff\'s/ believe me you just need a fd diff and an fc t2 diff. mine was 1990. straight swap.
yes mate but was yours a turbo diff already?? i have heard that fd diffs will not fit in egi casings unless that is what you have done??
read my last post
your question was originaly what do you need for a turbo diff conversion. i would use all the t2 gearbox prop and axle. they bolt straight on. the problem is your going to be better off finacially to just buy a t2 in the first place
yeah suppose i should have said egi to LSD diff. i\'m going welded till i find an mx5 diff anyway. although might be picking up a t2 in a couple of days anyway.
