Hi Guys
I\'m new to rotarys, and here, but I suspect I\'ll be around a lot! In a moment of madness I\'ve just bought a rotary of ebay.
I know it\'s a 13b and I\'m told it\'s a 6 port (although I\'ve got some reading to catch up with). Not heard it running or had it compression checked, but I got it at a good price, and I\'m told it did run (!)
It came from a DAX Rush so I can\'t tell what car year it came from. The sellers only bought the DAX to drop in a V8 chevy, so the rotary was sold.
Someone has loved it! there\'s a 45 DCOE on a racing beat manifold and something clever going on with the coils.

at a guess - it looks like an EGI engine ( so a FC )
i would say its an egi as well, especially looking a the distributor on it.
Its an egi, but would need to check if the housing on the other side say 12a or 13b to find out what it is, it might be a 12a out of an FB if its running carbs rather than fuel injection as the FC egis have?
so your the one i was bidding against:Grrr
oh well nice score any way yea its an egi 6 port thing from an fc
whats the plans for it? ive got a front mount cover if you need one
hmm ive even got a 323 4 sale :Santaitll bolt in to
ha... sorry, and it was quite a drive to pick it up!
I nearly daren\'t say for fear of ridicule..... but it\'s off into an old beetle.
At this point I still haven\'t got a beetle (loads of them, not so many engines!) but I\'m looking at mounting it via adapter plates and some kind of fabricated front mount (rear to me!) So a bit of plumbing to sort.
so then second generation fuel injected 13b.

Rotary Beetle\'s ftw! :D

sadly not a turbo, but I\'m hopeing for 170+ bhp (achieveable without porting?) so in a lightweight bug it should fly...
..and eat gearboxes
now you\'ll quickly see the level of my rotary knowledge... what\'s the front mount cover?
I suspect I\'m going to need a few bits to get me going. I\'ve got a strangely shortened sump (a DAX issue possibly) a top water outlet that points the wrong way, and I do have to sort out a front mount, possibly ignoreing the 2 obvious side mounts.

hello, it\'s out of \'\'E\'\' reg black colour egi and when I brought the car, minus the engine.
few year laters, met Dax\'s owner and along with the very same engine out of the black car!!!.
the engine\'s standard with no rebuild and running very well.
bet that racing beat maniford\'s colour\'s black cracking paint?
the ignition\'s a difi systems with MSD or CRANE cdi box which make bigger spark for better power and efficiency.
the car/engine come from Aberdeen,
hope it helps
Without doubt, I owe you a drink!
Just talking to kennady about the adapter plates and stumbling over the counterbalance weight because I don\'t know the year.
Many thanks :god
It was installed by me in a dax rush which I sold before moving overseas.
The engine is an 6-port, with a wasted spark ignition system. Six port actuators opened and closed with vacuum and rpm switch.
The weber 45 dcoe is mounted on a racing beat manifold, the engine needs to go on a dyno to set the jetting - it runs slightly too rich.
The engine was removed from a 1990 FC
With the standard injection system, dax exhaust it made 170 bhp at the wheels
The ignition CDI unit and rpm switch were from Summit Racing (USA), but look to have been chopped off from the photo\'s.
The ignitors have been modified to allow wasted sparks on leading coils and standard ignition on the trailing coils, hence the 3 coils. The plug wires are about 18 months old are are very low ohm, not sure if they are 10 or 12mm, but anything else will be a downgrade.
That\'s fantastic, thanks for that. Hppefully get it into the beetle for summer, so I\'ll keep you posted
