Title: does you AP Eng pfc have...?
Post by: L18M on January 26, 2010, 05:05:03 PM
i know a few of you lot run ap eng pfc.
its ment to be plug and play and i assumed (assuming is a bad ting) that it plugs directly into the stock TII loom.
me and adams (tiddles) have fd plugs in so need the harness. not sure about petes.
just wondering if they had 2 versions one with fd plugs and another with proper fc plugs?

maybe the difference between ap eng and fd pfc is just the chip inside?
maybe the ap eng pfc just changed teh chip and add the harness then just changed the name to ap eng rather than sticking with apexi?

worth knowing as i dont want other ppl to fall into the same prob as me :)

Hi Liam,

My one came with it\'s own loom. So the stock fc loom plugs into the ap engineering pfc loom which plugs into the ap engineering pfc ecu.

I am the same with plug and play AP engineering ECU but I have gone for a uprated IAT, FD boost sensor and obviously no MAF.  I was told that the engine will not run with a standard FC boost sensor fitted but mine ran perfectly.  I do know that the ECU has the ability to cater for any of the boost sensors if you know the setting for them, easy for me as I have the datalogit to adjust the values. As a last ditch attempt you could try your ECU in another known working FC turbo if its the AP engineering one which will be plug and play. With the AP engineering one you do not have to mod the coil ignitors. If you are using the FD Apexi with a harness then you must upgrade the IAT, Boost sensor and mod your FC coils.

thanks pete. the most ocnfusing thing is that your ap eng pfc seem to be literally plug and play (stock TII plugs on the pfc) mine and ade has fd plugs in the ap eng pfc and needs the harness.

Maybe a difference of the manufacture date, dont really know but the AP eng ones really are all plug and play.

Yeah it does seem odd though. I mean that mine just plugged in and the car ran. Strange that yours is different. Then again your car is getting known for being a bit different!

did a little digging around and seems the Ap Eng pfc came with harness, 3 bar map sensor and fd iat.
from what i\'ve discovered (and a few others) the ap eng has a different sticker on the chip inside "13b1" (fd is sth like 13B-REW2) which can mean it has a different base map on and few other different software changes.

Did you fit your 3 bar sensor? It will not run if it has been programmed with a 3 bar in its setup as all the settings are completely different. If you initiate the ECU then try a standard TII boost sensor as this may work. If not then send me the ECU and I will try in mine. At least I can use my datalogit and see what is in the map. I can also load a decent map which will better support your mods to make it a bit safer. I doubt the standard setup will cater for a huge turbo like yours.

thanks pete, the turbo is not that big :(
james said he plugged in the 3 bar map sensor in etc and checked settings but he not really used apexi before, just microtec mainly.
should get the loom within the next couple of days, just waiting for customs then will see what happens or not lol

i might just take u up on the offer of posting u my pfc if james still cant fire it up :(
i\'m hoping its just the settings he not got right rather than the pfc playing up.
