Title: Operating oil and water temperatures?
Post by: chrisBoid on May 08, 2004, 06:35:32 PM
Hi,

I\'ve just had the obligatory oil and water temperature guages fitted.

What are the operating temperatures for oil and water?

Driving 100+ miles today, the oil stayed around 80 (max 90) and the water was about 80-90 (100 when stuck in traffic), this was after having some fun.

Thanks

Chris.

Chris, not sure about the water temps as I never fitted one of those, but as for the oil it sounds about right.

All sounds normal. Having a decent water gauge is great, its amazing the movement you see! I spent hours amused by my Defi\'s when I got em :)

Hehe, good, thanks guys.

I\'ll have to set the water temp threshold a bit higher than 100 then :)

Yep that startup routine makes me smile every time.

I had mine set at 92 or so, I didnt like to let it get any hotter so would flick the aircon on to engage fans when sat in traffic, never used to hit more than 95 any time....

Yes it did worry me that it reached 100, surely not good...

I\'ll use the air con trick from now on!
