Title: T88 shaft play?
Post by: m1tch on January 23, 2010, 05:07:24 PM
Hi all, How much side to side shaft play is ok for the T88? its a journal bearing, so I know there should be some play there and also there is no oil in the bearing so how much side to side play should there be?

There is no play on the shaft play in and out, the turbo has done 600 miles on a supra.

I will check what its like, there is no play in and out which is good, I know journal bearings can have play side to side and maybe it has dried out from when you dropped it off?

what do you mean dried out is there any movement from side to side....when i dropped it off there was about a mm or so either side. There always is. It just shouldn\'t be excessive. I just checked a brand new t88 GK and its the same, slight movement from side to side but none in and out.

Just gone to go check it, there is a few mil of play which is ok for journal bearings, there seems to be free-er play on part of it, but I think that for some reason a T88 only has 270 degree thrust bearings? I might ask to get it rebuilt with 360 degree thrust bearings like my OEM FC one
