Hi-
I just started my car up to move it out of the garage, and could hear the fule pump wirring after each blip on the throttle!
Is this bad?
How old is the fuel pump? I know my uprated one wirrs a bit as its got a good flow, do you have a fuel pressure gauge?
No fuel pressure gauge, I bought the pump second hand, but supposedly little use from a guy on FDUK, who\'s on there a lot
I guess it\'s something I shoulda bought new really
Anyone one else have an opinion?
What kind of pump is it? If you were used to a stock (very quiet) pump and have installed a big aftermarket bosch or something, maybe you\'re just not used to the noise yet?
Thats what i was thinking! ^^^
Bosch 044....I\'ve had it in for about 4months, did make a bussing noise when I first had it, but hadnt noticed anything since :S
Hi,
I have fitted a Bosch 040 to my FD a while ago. On turning the key to ignition you can hear the thing prime the system and its loud !
Not sure if all bosch pumps are like this or maybe I might have leak at the pump.

Seems normal to me, unless you\'ve got any other symptoms?
You blip the throttle, the fuel pump relay ups the voltage to battery voltage to maintain pressure at the injectors. You let off the throttle, and it takes a moment for the pump to return to the low-voltage setting. The engine has quietened down so you can hear the pump for a moment.
OR, if you\'ve modded the pump wiring to give full battery voltage all the time then when you are not on the gas you\'ll hear that bosch bad-boy whining all the time - just that when you are on the throttle the engine noise is drowning it out.
yeah its a Bosch 044, so its going to be loud lol
Well my concern was that I hadnt noticed it before, maybe a bit more noticeable since it\'s colder!?
I think it does have a new supply from the battery, thanks for the help guys....will just keep an ear out to see if it gets worse
Could the difference be that you\'re in the garage? Any noise will sound louder in a confined space as it gets bounced back at you by the walls...
044 = much loudness
Nothing unusual there charlie.
Aftermarket pumps do make some noise, you can hear them fire up when you start the car.
