a freshly resprayed TII shell go for?
custom red with gold flakes in the top coat.
good condition sills, full stock interior in good condition.
assuming shell with full interior + doors and wing mirrors + class + engine loom, no coilovers, no wheels, no bonnet, no engine no aftermarket parts.
anyone got any ideas?
depending on this and breaking for parts, if i can get a few grand then be lots easier to break it and import another jap car. maybe not a rotary, maybe sth nice and rare :Laugh
Judging by the fact that nothing seems to be selling at the moment I reckon youd be lucky to get much more than £500 for it. Cant believe your even thinking about it after waiting this long for it.
What? Seriously? You\'ve got to at least get it on the road so you can fall in love with it again.
Although if you decide to go this route let me know I might be interested.
Such a waste :(
\'ave a word wiv yourself Liam, mate. No way should you do that after all this time and grief . Just the the guy to finish the fduking thing, dude :3Confused
Anyway, not being funny, but a TII shell\'s hardly gonna be worth a lot no matter how nice a colour it\'s painted :Hammer
I had a mint TII shell, fresh import, not a spec of rust or rot anywhere, I sent it for scrap, no interest what so ever :(
is a shame but if jack all is happening then whats the point of having it? might as well not have it and have some money.
cant afford to trailor it away and pay someone else more to get the job done.

its a shame, waste of a respray :( thinking if someone had a rusted up fc then just transplant their running gear etc into a good shell.

any ballpark on this? (can pm me you you like)
gonna work out how much i can sell the parts (literally) then see if it makes any scense. the biggest part was getting rid of the shell, engine, pfc, coilovers, bonnet etc is easy enough to sell..

its a shame, you have good prices so it seems more of a case of no-one wants as opposed to people cant afford it.

Dunno who\'s doing the work for you, but like Lee says, he\'s taking the absolute plss out of you dude, don\'t care how many times you\'ve changed your mind, the amount of time he\'s had it he could have whittled a 1:1 scale replica of your car with all working parts out of pure unobtanium. Kick him in the boIIocks until he finishes it, then you
will have the car and this\'ll have a happy ending :Thumbs-up

mmm.. happy ending.. if it came with a nice lil thai (or better still, a nice malaysian gal in the passenger seat) then that would be a \'happy ending\' :Giggle
be strong liam! we believe in you!
i\'d possibly be interested in this if you are thinking about getting rid mate. i\'d love a nice fresh shell. if its cheap that is.
Mate, once you get going in it, you will wonder why you ever thought of leaving it, its not like you have had fun cars to drive in the mean time! And its basically a complete rebuild of the whole car lol Im doing mine bit by bit, taken me 3 years so far and im still just about getting to the limit of the stock turbo :rollin you have basically upgraded everything in 1 hit lol
not complete rebuild:
engine rebuild & porting
bolting on tub, manifold etc
v-mount
bolt on uprated brake disks (f&r) pads (f only)
bolt in cage
relocate battery
plug in fpr
think thats about it. theres the odd little thing here n there but not like it would take more than a day to do.
if the fc was a full restore to new then over year would be understandable but for the work as above... =(
jan 22nd is the do or die day else the poo will hit the fan with a vengeance!
though if i get her back still need to run in and return to get mapped.
so is it do or die then?
die time!! =(
passion for fc is dead =(
so what parts u after? lol
just thinking, how much would this spec fc sell for?
pondering how much to sell for and what car to get next.
quite fancy a r32 or r33 gt-r, but bit common.
civic fd2, too expensive
ek9 they go for silly money n fwd.
nsx too much $$$
supra too common.
any ideas?
nice fwd, not so common, 300bhp+ atw??
mazda 323 gtr very rare quite quick with basic mods.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
How about an EK4?
Although I sold mine to get the FC engine rebuilt and a few extra toys! :-)
If your gonna. What about an FD?
What went wrong?? Gutted for you.
Don\'t forget most of the work has been done to your FC. If you buy anything else you\'ll have to start from scratch again. How much time/money is that gonna be?
Real sorry to see this thread going on, sounds like this would have been a real good looking car,
How about this ?
I see from above you are talking about an r32 or r33 gt-r, so how about using the money it would cost to buy this to get another TII and transplant all the stuff your self,
This was you get a car on the road and the parts your waiting for can be put on or in as they eventually appear (hopefully) also this way you do not turn your back on the Rotary friends you have made here on MRC, after all they ain\'t going to recognise you in an old Skybus are they ;),
Hope this helps, trust me, we have all been there !
Trust me, don\'t do it.
I paid £500 for my TII vert, with 2 rotten floors and some minor electrical problems...
Keep the car, it\'s SO close to being done, you\'d be a fool to give up now!
tell you what Mate I will even give up any free time I have to get this car finished for you, I am sure between us all we can persuade you to keep the car. After all this at least get the car going, drive it around and then see how it goes from there.
Where is the car now?
Its at JM garage, I got a text from Liam yesterday, all that is left is the battery relocation, brake upgrade, half cage bolt in and boost controller...plus the car needs to be run in, so won\'t be going on boost or any high speed
Brake upgrade, roll cage and boost controller could wait until after it\'s run in - not as if you\'re going to be boosting it while you do the run in miles.
How long can it take to make a battery box/clamp and run 2 long cables from the boot (I presume that\'s where it\'s relocated too)?

This sort of post is why I love this club. Come on Liam don\'t go back to the pistons.
mate you cant give up at this point - its just madness :(
if i was closer i would offer my time aswell to help out
just dont sell up - its really silly
Quote from: rx7pat;667430How about an EK4?
ek4 still fwd

lol, if i could transplant it all myself then i can easily finish it myself lol
but thats the prob, its more a case of: me + spanner = hammer lol
not much point doing transplant as shell is in good condition now and will still have same prob of the odd things or 2 still needing fabrication =(

thanks for the offer pete, very kind and as tiddles said below :)

true, but then means car will be away again for god knows how long... =/
how long can it take to make a batt box? hmm, well how long does it take to rebuild and port an engine and fab up a v-mount? 6 months max i would of thought but obviously not. =/

still at jm garage. waste of a trip down there yesterday but at least made sure he was working than farting about.
should be started mon eve he said but we shall see ¬.¬
at least its an improvement to "come pick it up week friday"
:Yawn
Why dont you make him wait for payment the same amount of time as youve waited for the car? Really niggles me when tuners do this imo it shows a neglect for customers needs/wants and gives a negative opinion for outsiders towars the rotary:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad
I\'m sure Pete or myself could help you with the brake upgrade - what you having done ?
Is it pads/discs or you going for uprated calipers ?
Welding isn\'t a skill I have, so can\'t help you with the battery box and mounts, but I could probably wire it for you.
Did you discuss any deadlines or timescales with James ? If there was an agreed time then it\'s bad if it\'s been slipped - particularly if it\'s happened a lot, but if you\'ve had a \'floating\' agreement then you\'ve less leverage.
Liam, stop arsing about and just get it on the road, dude. No way are we gonna let you get away with walking away and breaking it now :Hammer. Get it on the road, and running in and forget about all the unecessary stuff like roll cages and whatnot, you can get them done later once you\'ve rediscovered the luurrrrrve for the car :InLove. Preferably done somewhere else.....
....got mine started after three months stood idle and even driving round the block off-boost reminded me why we love these cars :). You drive it, you keep it :yes

disks and pad. we agreed 3-4 months since he had the car then it keeps getting extended due to probs.

i guess i can live without putting cage in now, brakes.. i\'m sure prof will be nice enough to help me or m1tch (more local than pete), good thing to learn also :) (else if that fails then i\'ll just be their tea boy n supply some munchies) thanks in advance
some re-wiring is needed (mainly to tidy up some mess) which i can do (im not completely useless! lol)
its more the bodywork i\'m worried about i guess.
door trim and couple of holes have appeared where the stock spoiler bolts to the body.
Right, "on a mission" as long as it starts by mon eve, get him to sort out bodywork then feck the cage n brakes. job done, pick up car and see what happens.
:Thumbsup!
That\'s the spirit :D
I have a pair of front Black Diamond discs in excellent condition and I can find a set of pads to go in them. Just upgrade to FD calipers for the front and theres not much else you can do for the rears anyway.
I dont think JM Garage have done themselves any favours in the length of time taken to complete even the simplist of tasks, cant see them being in business for long at this rate.
Just let us know how we can help you out and we\'ll get you on the road.
I think a mod should change the title of this thread to "Group hug for Liam!"
its certainly getting that way
Righty then only just seem this thread!
I can admit that this car has taken far too long for that there is only myself to blame and i\'m holding my hands up and apologising again on that front.
However (and this is not justification for the time taken):
the project has been: full rebuild, large street ports, fitting turbo kit, custom down pipe and re-circ wastegate, one off custom v-mount fabricated in house. This required some structure alteration at the front end of the car, relocation of oil cooler, fuel pump, pressure reg, fitting AP Power FC, full respay.
Now there where a few weeks lost last month with no ability to get into the workshop so obviously nothing could be done there. Some weeks where lost unfortunatly due to discussions and decisions about custom inlet manifolds, can we fd fit, can we make the RE versions fit. These types of delays are only natural in these types of projects. Again let me add these or not justifications to the long time.
I do however think its worth me mentioning that i have done all the work at hugely discounted costs and thrown some trinkits for free. So at times yes it has had to take a back seat. I do resent the comment that "jack is happening". But i\'m hoping in past days we have moved past this.
The car is now pretty much finished aside from a fuel pump issue a dam good clean.
As above i\'m happy to hold my hands up apologise for the delay and admit its not on that its taken as long as it has and i\'m hoping that Liam will be reunited with his beatsy in the next few days as i\'m doing nothing else until the last few remaining issues are sorted and the car back with him.
^^ Glad it\'s getting sorted.
At least you\'re admitting that it\'s at least partially your own fault for the mega delays - that\'s a big step. Not really wanting to be critical or put you down as I don\'t know you buuut:
If it gets to the stage someone feels they need to post up on a forum saying how long it is taking, and gets others offering to help - maybe you need to revise your work strategy? (note I\'m not criticising the quality of the work you do).
I admit that the above doesn\'t always apply - there\'re a lot of total ....s out there who\'re impatient and complain at the slightest thing, but I\'ve seen nothing to imply Liam is like that.
I want to be helpful, not make you feel bad dude, so well done for getting on it and sorting the last few things quickly!
i\'m not sure whether to comment further to james response or not, as this wasn\'t the reason for this thread and i dont want it to turnout just ra ra ra at each other but as long as everything moves swiftly on and progress was as fast as it was on sat, then i\'ll just be happy to get it back within the next few days.
everyone said rotaries are fun when they work but a headache when they dont. atm i\'m just getting lots of headache for no fun.
No pain, no gain !!

Hey Liam, I don\'t think there is any cause for ra ra ra. Think we both undertand where the car is and whats happening. I do understand that this wasn\'t why the thread was started so i\'m not having a pop at all. I just wanted to underline that i\'m on it and its getting do just as a responce to the negitivity mentioned in earlier posts.
I\'ll give you a call later let you know how we\'re moving on.
......... :)
