Title: Ofset Info needed
Post by: R1Dude on January 07, 2010, 03:58:49 PM
Hi all I have a 1993 fd3s which next week I am planning to have the arches rolled and extended out 20mm for both asthetics and more room for my wheels which are Re Amemiya 17" 8.5j on the front and 9.5j on the back, now the guy that is doing the work has asked me to provide him with my standard tyre width and offset and my new tyre width and offset, now here is my dilema, 1. I have no idea!! and 2. I am putting on 20mm bolt on spacers to widen the track to flush the wheels out with the edge of the arches after they have been rolled and flared, so can anyone help me out with working out the figures that he has asked for? please forgive me if this is easy as I have a really bad headache! thanks Ade 07908242931

Hi i will chip in with my 2p worth
standard
Wheel diameter
16 Inch

Wheel rim width
8JJ

Genuine installing tire size
The 225/50R16 (with the grade the ZR)

Wheel offset
+50 (mm)

P.C.D.
114.3 (Mm)

Standard major diameter of tire of this size
632-635mm

firstly what offset are your re wheels, should be printed in the same area you found the sizes 18X 8.5

now if your happy with your current posistion regarding the arch and tyre/wheel then if you roll and extend 20mm then space 20mm it should be fine.

You now need to look at your tyres and find the info or would imagine its something like
8.5 front 225,35
9.5 rear 255,30

and tell your guy

let him work out the rest.

hope that helps.

Hi no worries but its the offset you need to find the PCD is the wheel nut  spacing, and if they fit now they still will after rolling lol.

are you happy with how the wheel and arch sit now?

if so then just rolling 20mm and moving the wheel 20mm it will sit in the arch the same.

however if you want a more agrassive look and want the wheel to sit out further then the guy will need the offset so he and you can work out how much to move the wheel or the arch.

for instance my wheels are +45 offset, and ive fitted 20mm spacers on standard arch, so im running an offset of 25 which i think is going to rub as i would realy think below 30 is not good for standard arch.

but glad i could help.

Hi there, I don\'t know how much this will help, but I have some OZ racing Futuras, they are 265 on the rear, with an ET of 35 and apparently fit onto an FD without any mods :)

To measure the offset:

You first need to measure the back space (BS), so put a flat rule across the edge of the rim (not the tyre) and drop down to the mounting face.
Next you need to measure the front space (FS) so put a flat rule across the opposit edge and measure to the mounting face (through the spokes)

The offset is BS-(BS+FS)/2

Negative offset = BS less than FS Positive offset = BS greater than FS
