Title: how can i make my car sound like this?
Post by: Adam fc on January 04, 2010, 06:24:39 PM
Im basically fed up of the drone coming from my 4 inch exhaust.Id like a nice rotary tone.
Any ideas where i can get a nice twin exit cat back one that won\'t make my ears bleed and isn\'t a racing beat one as they are above my limited funds at the moment lol.

does it have to be twin exit? i\'m planning on selling my kakimoto (single driver side exit) sounds awesome! but too loud for track days =(
hence plan to sell it and replace with re-a twin exit i have.

isnt the ss autochrome twin?
else custom  job?
i might consider parting with my re-a exhaust and go custom big fat mid silencer but not sure if it will get the noise down.

ive been qouted for a mid silencer for my single exit but im unsure if it will make any difference.
I think custom may be the way forward.Im seriously fed up with the noise lol.

Ask JM garage, my custom turbo back system is awesome, just ask him to make an exhaust for your needs with regards to sound, im running a midbox and stubby cans to create a lower \'rotary\' sound.

Give him a call :) mine is DEFINATLY not restrictive lol

I was thinking about chopping into the front bumper and making a mini \'shelf\' and fitting something custom in. Ghetto I know :D

No idea what lights are powerful enough and can be adjusted appropriately though. It\'s just motors etc are heavy, and it\'s a good place to save weight.

My fc just sounds the same like the one on youtube, when on full throttle it sounds like a motorcycle. I have the twinexit one from japspeed with decat and downpipe from 2fast2cool.

Did you change your exhaust yet Adam?  I am having the same troubles with my ebay special 3" straight through.  Pulled over by the pOlice this morning too is making me think I should change or tweak it.  I could put the baffle back in the end but it sucks all the power out of the car :S

if your talking about the bung in the tail pipe it really does not lose much power from this as the speed of the ehaust gases are far lower once they reach the tail pipe i reckon you could chop the 1 inch pipe that enters tghe system off and make it 2 inch to reduce moise and not lose any power what so ever

Maybe I have some other issues with my car,  putting the bung in drops my boost down from 10psi to under 5,  and it makes it rev fairly un-smoothly.  Any chance we could get a video KrisD1 of how yours sounds?

Sounds very nice sittin in the garage, this isnt the best video of mine, exterior has changed obviously but the one on the video sounds just like mine out on the road but mines got a bit more of a burble to it

With the bung in my system its sounds really poo and the boost drops a few psi aswel.my car is off the road at the mo but im now saving for the hks silent power system as this seems to tick the right boxes for me.

With the bung out its embarrassingly loud.

i have the ebay one and i love the noise a boost controller would sort your boost issues tho as your obviosly relying on the boost creep to raise it above standard

isn\'t the hks single exit?
Title: how can i make my car sound like this?
Post by: Adam fc on February 13, 2010, 07:11:23 AM
Yeah the hks is a single exit and I\'m thinking a single will suit the rest of the car when it\'s finished, and a custom hobby isn\'t far off £500 anyway.

Yeah my car still suffers from over boosting. Will an electronical boost controller lower the boost levels I\'m currently running?

Is boost creap when the wastegate cannot release anymore exhaust gas and is unable to keep the boost under control?
So  does the stock exhaust play a part in controlilng the boost levels along side the wastegate?

A boost controller cant lower the boost anymore than it would be without a controller.
The stock exhaust cant flow as much so doesnt suffer from boost creep,
Ive heard people putting restrictions in the exhaust or intake to stop the creeping.
Im yet to get my car on the road and have a similar setup so im sure il have these issues too.
Do you have the stock tid and airbox?
