Title: low on compression? leaking rear oil seal

i removed my clutch yesterday and was able to turn the flywheel over by hand fairly easily but am ale to feel some compression how easy should it be to turn? also found out my rear oil seal is leaking behind the flywheel can this job be done with the engine in the car and what tools are needed regards martin.

You should be able to turn it by hand from the front pulley with one hand and no belts connected. If it binds,, you got a problem.Try taking the plugs out to verify how much compression you can or cant feel.

You need a 54mm socket and a mofo long bar on the end of it. You also need to be able to lock the flywheel (Mazda part or length of chain and some high tensile bolts). Then "pop" it off with a lump hammer.

Prize out the seal and slip a new (oiled) one in).

Easy (cos its much harder when the engine wants to roll around on the floor)
